I guess I'm getting tired of messing with the pins on the stag of a frame handle.
I'm thinking to try hidden blind pins on a stag thru the frame.

I've done this before with a snakewood frame and there was plenty of surface area grabbing and when the halves clicked together it was not easy to get the halves apart.

any comments on thoughts on hidden pins for a Frame handle ?
I also mill a dovetail in the stag for epoxy to grab onto since the dovetail creates an undercut channel

here is a recent stag frame with pins going through

I’ve done the hidden pin construction a few times. Using threaded rod for pins gives extra purchase. To get everything to line up, I use the frame as a template to drill the pin holes.

I am doing a kitchen knife where both the WI bolsters and Honduran rosewood burl scales will be held by threaded hidden pins.

If you go to all the trouble to use hidden pins, why not just make them visible and peen them?
That way, they'll hold the handle on!

because I'm not that adept in working with stag and peening and doming pins.
It's alot of work and frankly stressful :-)
Satisfying when it works well though,

I had seen a recent loveless stag knife with hidden pins and thought I might try it.

"Hidden pins" help with shear if dropped, but if the epoxy lets loose will they hold onto the scales?
