Hidden pins

This weekend I'm going to experiment with making a few pins sharp on both ends. Long enough to press the scales on them but not enough to go through. Sounds possible to work.

Make then with flat ends for a better strength. You don't have to make super precise matched holes for the pins. Use 1/8" pins and drill 1/4" wide holes in the scales with a flat bottomed milling bit to match the pin positions. Let the resin fill the space.

I like to drill and tap holes for hidden pins. I then just use screws w/the heads cut off as the pins, usually 8-32. Works really well and gives the epoxy some texture to help hold in place!

This is good advice. Epoxy resin is harder than most handle materials, so why not?
