Hi,
I've got an "Original Bowie Knife" from the 1960s. It was made in Solingen. It's about 10" overall, with a 6" blade. It is sentimental, but has not intrinsic value. It was amateurishly reworked twenty-five years ago. The blade is straight, but could use a clean up and sharpening. The guard is original, but poorly designed. I'd like it replaced with a brass or nickel silver single guard . The wood handle is not original, and doesn't fit especially well. I want a traditional handle on it: antler, horn, stabilized wood, or stacked leather. I'm open to suggestions. The pommel is original aluminum. It's beat up, but serviceable. I am not married to it, but don't need it to be replaced. A polish might really shape it up. I've got no sheath for this thing. I'd want something a little special. It should be patterned like a Randall Model A, with no hone pocket.
The knife belonged to my uncle, a Canadian who served in the US Marine Corps. He died in Vietnam. This knife is going to be for my son, who is going to be born at the end of August. The men in my family each wear one of his knives when we go to Remembrance Day ceremonies.
The knife will be shipped to and from Alberta, Canada.
