Ok, I am looking for folder suggestions that are in the range of $300-400 range. However if it is something that really catches my eye I could push it farther.

The twist is I would like suggestions other than Sebenzas and Striders.

I have been eyeing some of Alan Folts work.

I do like knives that cut well. And my ideal size range is larger blades. 3-4" blade length. And preferably a 4" handle. However feel free to offer suggestions. I really want to obtain a Les George VECP. However I have no Idea how hard that would be.

Thanks for any suggestions.

grayman dua the ti-ti version falls just under your low end of the budget. you could also look at the titanium lionsteel SR-1 I have the aluminum version and its great.

Brous Blades has some fine offerings right now. A Sacha Thiel Officer would be a nice addition to any collection. Perhaps something from Alan Davis?

The Grayman SATU is def a hefty folder to take a look at.

But my first recommendation would be a knife that I recently received.

Which would be the Brous Division Flipper from Jason Brous.

It's a large folder and truly perfection in every single way.

You can take a look at Jason's website and view a bunch of vids of it on YouTube.

If you want a large folder for under $400 that will catch your eye, IMO its the perfect choice.

Thanks, I had been considering Sacha Thiels work. I think I am on Alan's list here in the future.

Thanks. I had been considering that as well.

I'd suggest looking around and holding them in your hands before dropping $400+ for one.

I spent near $500 on a small sebenza. I love it, but I'm certain I could of gotten the same quality knife for $100-200.

Yes it's nice, but $400+?

Look around, there are many knife makers who make great knives for a good price.

Interesting query as I am more or less looking for the same - maybe prepared to go higher if need be.

From a lot of research knifecentre.com have a limited edition run currently available in M390 steel on a Darrel Ralph Gunhammer for $299.00.

The steel is excellent for cutting/edge retention ( see Ankerson's metal tests in the Knife Review forum ) and the size of the blade fits your spec.

This knife weighs in at the expected weight for a knife this size at 5.2 oz's and a 3.5 inch blade. The Rc hardness on the steel is 62 so the performance should be exceptional.

Ergonomics on the knife are excellent and it is available either as an assisted opener or a manual.

This is the best I have come across after a few days checking what's out there.

Here is another vote for Alan Davis! He will fix it the way you want it! Good Luck! Kevin :D:thumbup:

K2 folder in CPM REX 121 by Farid... if you can find one, as he only made 20. they cost somewhere between 400 and 900...

I'm just gonna get you a short list to look at. =]

ZT 0560 CBCF - s110v composite with a beautiful CF and Ti handle.
Grayman Dua
Lionsteel SR-1 Ti
Lionsteel TiSpine
HTM Darrel Ralph HTM-DDR Maxx 4
HTM Kirby Lambert Snap
Microtech Whaleshark
Protech TR-3 Manual Integrity - The one in s35vn with blue textured titanium.
Spartan Blades Akribis

There's an HTM DDR Gunhammer in CTS-XHP for $300 at my local knife shop.

oh good call on the protech I keep forgetting them and there is now a TR-4 manual folder

I honestly don't know how my current favorite folder slipped my mind. It's one of the nicest knives I've come across in this price range. It single handedly talked me out of a Sebenza.

It carries like a dream and is very comfortable in the hand. The size is just about perfect too. I honestly don't know how these don't get more recognition.

yeah I only heard about them a few months ago and what I have heard has been excellent but like you said they aren't talked about enough. I do wish they would make more manual folders since autos are illegal where I am

I'm flipping my assisted version as I type this. This is the only folder that I've come across that has equalled the pocket time that my PM2 in M390 gets. It is true perfection IMHO.

Check out the William Henry EDC E10 in carbon fiber. Blade is a little over three inches and made with D2 steel (HRC 60-61). I really like the deep carry clip and to me the button lock is just fabulous. I have one and use it. It has held up well. To me it is a good combination of "user" and "office knife" (won't scare anyone).

Good luck with the search. Let us know where you land.

I've been kicking around picking up a Pro-Tech TR-4 manual myself.

But decided to pick up a Custom Friction Folder instead.

I can also def agree with recommendations on HTM knives, as I own 3 DDR Models and they are awesome knives for the money.

I have a HTM Snap, HTM Bullwhip, and HTM Gunhammer.

You can find them for great prices too depending where you look.

That depends do you want a flipper or non flipper full ti or g10 cf lscf w/e what blade style? Tanto? Spearpoint? Drop point? What locking mechanism? The list goes on if your dropping 400 $ should be exactly thr configuration you want....
For a non flipper user I dont see much beating the el patron unless your going for something more for show/looks
For flipper i could throw down quite the list depending on what specifically you want

Thanks for all the suggestions guys.

I do have an order with Jeremy for an El Patron. And Gareth Bull for one of his Warlock folders.

As for blade length and weight, and blade shape ect. I do not mind weight. No Tanto blades for me at this price range. Otherwise suggest away. Flipper or non does not make the difference either.
