I just have a bad feeling that this is going to lead to more than my wife will be happy with me spending in the future. Thanks for all of your input.
This is going to sound harsher than I intend it to and please know, that zero offense is meant. Honestly.
IMO, the price of your knife should be roughly proportional to the price of your car, watch, pen, shoes and shirt.
In "Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance", Pirsig said that quality is that which produces peace of mind. Know your own mind.
In term of function, get yourself $15 Opinel. Cut stuff. Try to break it. This will tell you that you can do anything you need to do with a $15 knife, just like Pirsig could ride across the country on a beater Honda. But peace of mind for you, might be on a BMW, and that is OK.
Whitehead said, "Seek simplicity, but fear it." I say, "Seek quality, but distrust it."
I don't think that they are. To me, it's like the guy who drives the BMW as a status thing when it doesn't do things any better than a Honda Accord. I'm a form follows function kind of guy. A BMW or Audi will not do anything better for me than a Honda Accord or a Jeep. A $900 Hinderer doesn't cut any better than a $120 Spyerco Paramilitary 2.
Holy shit I just pulled the trigger on a large 21 CF. I'm on cloud 9, Saturdays mail can't get here soon enough.
The more I play with it in starting to feel the same way you do. It's built with amazing care and quality but it just feels too small. I guess I'm used to my TI Military but I'm not sure I'll keep this one. It'll probably be on the sale page soon. I just think I need something a tad bigger. If only CRK could make an XL Sebenza. Maybe a 4.75" (sharpened) blade length with a thickness of .160" and equally thick Ti slabs.
