High End Kershaw Blur

And I’d like to see pics of the beat up blur too... there’s beauty in a well used tool!

Yeah, it's dull AF and the clip is fubar. If I'm being honest, I think I was just looking for an excuse to buy new knives. I'm going to give it some TLC and keep it in rotation.

I like a big knife, but the Manix 2 XL is just too big to be practical to carry with any regularity.
The ZT 0566CF is heavy and just kind of pedestrian up close and if I'm going to get a ZT I'd like it to be a bit more exotic.

Makes sense, how does the 566 compare to the blur in size ?

I used and abused kershaws when i got started, i graduated to ZT the same way. Benchmade never met my expectations.

I know it's different but try to get an pm2 with whatever steel floats your boat. It's a game changer for people used to Kershaws and ZTs. KAI makes some great knives but spyderco does them better. The aesthetics generally go to KAI no matter what price range. The feel and functionality go to spyderco. But for equivalent materials, you'll get a bigger bang for you buck with KAI, generally speaking, they just don't work as well. The customer service is better with KAI, the caveat is that you don't need customer service as much with Spyderco.

I'm not a die hard spyderco fan or anything, but for mass production knives, I've personally experienced them producing a better product. The foundation of the knife is just better.

When buying a home, would you rather buy one with the nicer fixtures and countertops? Or would you rather buy one with the better foundation, frame, insulation, mechanical equipment and wiring? One looks better, one functions better.

I'm going to do just that. A PM 2 just seems like a knife that anyone who's into them should own so I'm going for the CPM-S110V with blue scales. I think I have the ZT upgrade in mind already too.

I have the blurple pm2 aswell. It works flawlessly. Beautiful knife. I still grab my zt over it because it seems tougher and more rugged.

I notice you say "it seems tougher and more rugged..."
"It seems..."
"Seems"

Use some common sense with a piece of hardened martensitic steel and the "it seems to be tougher and more rugged" gives way to "it DOES work better for most uses."

The only folding knives meant for genuinely rough work belong almost solely to Cold Steel. Once you realize that, you realize that most others are just marketing glimmer. And once you realize that, you realize that you don't need a knife that "seems tougher and more rugged" and you just want a knife that works well.

Haha yes I say seems because I can't testify to the spyderco's toughness. I haven't used it much at all.

I'm outdoors all the time, and I don't mind tossing the zt around a little being rough with it. The pm2 feels like it's more about finesse, and I have not yet got to the point that I'm willing to do that with it. I certainly enjoy playing with it though, and it came perfectly centered and free dropping.

Just like you I started out with some Kershaws (leek, amp, shield cryos) and eventually made the step up to ZT And never regretted it. If you’re looking for something really nice, a step up from the blur, I would go with a bearing knife (like the 0220 or 0562) over an A/O. They’re all very smooth. I love the 0220, 0909 and also the 0200. The 0200 and 0909 are discontinued but you can find em used for under $200 and ZTs come with free sharpening for life.
