High end Tenacious?

It is no debate that the Tenacious is a sweet knife. For around $40 it is one of the best knives in the price range, and is designed spectacularly. My only qualm is that the blade steel is kinda meh. Is there such a knife as something that fits the hand and is around the same size as the Tenacious with a steel better than 440C?

I know there are a few knives that feel similar like the Lionsteel SR2A, but it doesn't have the x factor of being super flickable (it does flick open somewhat decently though). The Ontario RAT 2 is another similar knife, but it is arguably worse, with nylon handles, at least equal to just not an improving (until they make a D2 CF version like they did the RAT 1).

I know the PM2 is kinda similar, but the handle to blade ratio is crazy. I'm also not the biggest fan of S30V. Don't get me wrong, I love my PM2, it just isn't what I am looking for (I also have one).

I used to own a Tenacious and I found out very quickly that I loved the ergonomics but hated the blade steel and how much room it took up in my pocket. Hopefully Spyderco will make a version with better steel one of these days.

Manix 2

Not a bad knife at all, but it is a definite hunk of steel in the pocket. I'm trying to get a Cruwear Manix, but they are pretty hard to find now. It just isn't quite the same knife (yes I know there is no such thing as the same knife).

Or if your looking for a all G10 scaled knife with similar specs to the tenacous with no finger choil, a Benchmade Rift fits the bill but with axis lock and 154cm steel. The HK Mini AXIS Folder with D2, or some some Emerson folders.

Though it is also hard to find, they did offer a BM Rift in M4.

Keep an eye on the exchange, I am sure a cruwear will pop up soon. They have been pretty common in the last few months.
I'm sure if you were to search for it you might find one or two that haven't sold since they were put up within the last few weeks.

The new sage with compression lock, although its S30V

I did love my Sage 1, and it really was similar to a high end Tenacious, but that was one of my first knives in S30V and it left me woefully underwhelmed. I wish Spyderco would end its love affair with that steel, especially when something like XHP has nearly the same edge retention but is better in many ways (and it doesn't actively hate razor edges!). Even S35VN does better with razor edges, which let's face it is the bread and butter of knife nuts.

I've always loved the tenacious design but like you, I desired a better steel. Spyderco should make a high end version of the tenacious in golden, with cpm 154. That would be a bestseller for sure.

Domino/Dice.

They're relatively expensive for a Spyderco. Pretty much the high-end version of the Tenacious. Flipper, titanium with CF scale, CTS-XHP. Good opening; easily flickable. Made at the TaiChung Taiwan factory.

They also hold their price, apparently.

As others have said, the Manix 2 is basically a high end tenacious. Or maybe the tenacious is a budget Manix 2..

The Manix is a mid-range knife. Tenacious is the budget line. The Domino would be the high end.

They're all the same, really, if you like the standard Spyderco form. It then depends on size, features and mats preferred, where Spyderco offers an entire line for almost every feature conceived. It's like a simple design, like Buck, Opinel and having a 100 versions depending on the added feature. Choose your poison, Spyderco probably has one like that.

The Domino does feel more high end though then your standard Delica, Endura, Manix, M/PM, Sage, Native, standard Spyderco build.

I totally forgot about this one. It doesn't fit in the hand the same (not at all in a bad way), but it has that same superb flipping action (at least mine did, perfect with hole or flipper), along with another opening method. It also has a finger choil, which is the one minor complaint I have with the Tenacious. I'm a derp sometimes, but good lord is this the best time to be a knife nut, there are so many great models I can't even keep track of half of them. And that is just talking production models!

Perhaps one of the sheepsfoot griptilians?

You can now go to the Benchmade site and order a sheepsfoot or regular grip in M4 or M390 (mini or regular), through the custom shop.

Make it as cheap as possible by buying just the steel and no scale upgrades and swap your scales onto that.

See... this is why nobody likes you. Lol.
Hahaha
