high end user folder similar to Leek?

I'm a gonna second the recommendation for the zt 450 ... amazing blade blows the benchmade 94x out of the water IMO ...I've owned both ...

Assuming autos are legal where you are, I would check out the pro tech newport. I have heard nothing but good things about the brand and have been very tempted to pick up one of their larger autos.
That 0450 has also tempted me more than once, too.

The high end leeks are worth looking into: Damascus, OCC, S30V G-10, or, if you can find one, ZDP-189 and Titanium.

Unfortunately it's illegal to carry autos in NC where I live, at least to my understanding. Although I agree the Pro Tech (and Benchmade) autos are very cool.

You've asked a couple of times about the Sebenza, so here's my take. The Sebenza is NOT my favorite folder, but it is my REFERENCE folder. By that I mean it's the folder I use to judge the quality of every other folder in my collection. That's just how well-made it is.

Yeah, I like the Splinter too. And the price is right. Just be aware that the lockbar cutout is a sharp. It's not sharp enough to cut you, but it's sharp enough to be annoying to some folks. I don't mind it, though.

Makes perfect sense. It's on my list as a result.

Small Sebenza is a very nice knife, but it has very little in common wit the Leek. The blade is much thicker (also behind the edge) and is not particularly good slicer. It is also a much stronger and smother knife. Did you consider the Elmax Leek and then some nice carbon scale for it? I have seen some online. I am proposing this as I am not aware of a knife with blade as thinly ground as the Leak has. If you would not require a lock the Cold Steel Lucky looks very interesting. Or have a look at Mnandi or maybe Spyderco Air.

True. About the only thing they have in common is blade length (~3") and overall length (~7"). But then there are a lot of other knives folks have recommended here that don't have a lot in common with the Leek. For my money, I'd still say the 0450 is about as close as you can get (flipper, KVT, ~7" length, metal handles), particularly if you want to keep it in the family.

You are correct - I did not mention other knives as I do not have experience with them. But I am wondering whether the ZT0450 is the right fit - it has quite different blade geometry and not that thin blade (0.12"). Just thinking loudly.

Well, I did pick up a 0450, so we'll see. I do like the BM943 and the size is right, love the axis lock, but there's just something about the Leek assist and blade profile that feels natural to me. I imagine there is an Elmax Leek in my future as well as an eventual Sebenza. I'm sure you all can relate. . .

S30V with Scandi or full flat grind, G10 or CF scales, liner lock, apparently made by the same manufacturer who produces Spyderco Taichung knives (immaculate build quality, fit and finish)

Inexpensive too, between $125-$150 depending on the configuration.

Edit:

Apparently I'm too late but it's worth considering in the future none the less!

You'll love either a BM 940, 943 or a ZT 450......both simply amazing knives, perfect for EDC!! Step up from the Leek for sure!
If you're thinking of the 450, check out usamadeblade here on the forum.....he has some already anodized!
Good luck!
Joe

I agree on the ZT450.

And yes Joe, I would love to play you some 9 Ball !!!
