High Expectations

Finally just ordered my first SRKW- went for the Bandicoot. Tough, tough call: Howling Rat & Bog Dog made compelling arguments... If these knives live up to what I've read, the Bandicoot is only the first, anyways.

Hi, everyone. My first post here. Spend 98% of time in Himalayan Imports: great knives, great people. Thank you (& your Busse cousins) for the recent show of solidarity with the auction...

Recently SRKW came up in one of our threads as a great knife/buy (JS/Spectre- someone whose opinion I trust). Thought I would check one out. I have high expectations, and don't believe I'll be disppointed.

Is the wait really 3-6 weeks? I absolutely don't mind active military having priority- that's more than OK with me, and it says a lot about the product and the manufacturer.

Thanks for any input,

Mike

You won't be disappointed! I've found that the only decision to make in buying Swamp Rat Knives is which to buy first!

That is a rather generic ballpark. It's all about timing. If you place your order near the end of the Bandicoot production cycle you could get your knife within a week or so. However, the wait could be longer if your order is placed toward the beginning.

The trick is patience. It's much easier to wait if you have another fine knife to use in the interim, and if you own a HI then it sounds like you do. ;)

Hope that helps,

Congrats on your first Rat purchase!

You will never regret purchasing a 'Coot. I have my INFIcoot beside me here, at work, along with a Killer Bee, a Rat Trap, a Rat Tail, a...well you get the idea. The 'Coot is built to be used.

Thanks, guys. Have heard nothing but good things. Hope it comes sooner than later.

Don't need any large knives- HI covers that well. Their Kukuris are outstanding. Just looking for a moderate carry with the highest quality in modern knifemaking thought.

Buddy has a Busse, said I was "gonna love" the Bandicoot. Dang but that Howling Rat was a close second. The reinforced tip thing helped make up my mind. The bigger ones are nice, but I'm not looking for a bowie/camp/fighter, just an all purpose, keep-in-the-car, boat, backpack kinda carry.

The edges- these things have a durable edge, steel up quickly? The impression I get.
