I am after a high powered flashlight, one that is more like a spotlight, long distance.
What would your recommendation be? Here is a few models I am looking at,
Surefire UB3T and M6LT
JetBeam M2S SST-50 and RRT-3 Raptor
Nitecore TM11
Fenix TK70
Or anything like the ones above, 800+ lumen with a long range beam.
Thanks for your input

I've got a Fenix TK70. Very happy with it. But since it uses 4 "D" batteries, it's a BIG light. With the head, it's as big as a 5 "D" cell light and heavy too. What are you using it for?

You could look at the ThruNite TN31. I am likely to get one soon, and from what I have seen it is a monster thrower.

Thanks for the input!!
I am mostly using it for spotlighting around our property, for deer, fox, coyote's, etc... Maybe on a camping trip, hunting.

I had the TM11 and through two of them, before I gave up on them and the vendor allowed me to trade up to the RRT3. I like the RRT3 better but miss the side switch on the TM11.

If you want distance, check out the Sunwayman T40CS or Olight M3X. If you don't mind the size, the Fenix TK70 or Olight SR95UT (best throw on a production light that I know of) are both good bets.

ericb445, Thanks for the info, how is the RRT3?

Storl, funny thing is that I was looking on your site for different lights, I might have to place a call to ya.

Thanks

You might take a look at the Fenix TK 41. It uses 8 AA batteries that are available just about everywhere, has a very long burn time, has four settings and at the highest one, puts out 900 lumens. It's pretty compact, about the size of an old 2-D cell flashlight. Not as small as the units that use the CR123 batteries of course.

I alternate use of two sets of rechargeable batteries and I'm very happy with it. I got one for my wife as well. She showed it to the members of a local SAR time and they said that they were going to buy them for the SAR team.

Thrunite catapult- 900+ lumens, spotlight functionality, very dependable - I've had one for 2 years - and only $149. Mine goes 90 minutes on high power and 4+ hours on low power - 600 lumens.

While I was walking my dog, this flashlight allowed me to spot, in our intended path, a 400lb black bear in the PA mountains at 125 yards distance.

+1 on this, the thrunite catapult is a mighty good light. it's bright, throwy, good runtime, but most of all the build quality is *very* solid. the walls of the body are thick and very solid. a much more solid feel over fenix lights and the D-cell maglites. It's heavy though. the texture is very grippy and deeply cut.

I appreciate all the suggestions!!
I have a Sunwayman T40CS on order from going gear. I might belly up for a Olight SR95, those look sweet.
The Thrunite Catapult might be on my list also, she looks like a great light.
Thanks

I was into lights long before I got into knives, and have a ton of them including some of these Big Mommas - Fenix TK35, TK40, Tiablo ACE and many others including HID lights. This thread has revived my interest in these big lights, so thanks for that. I just got out my TK35 after a long period of disuse, and I forgot just what a sweet like it is. Its like having new toys all over again.

Old school Mag mod, before it was cool to have multiple emitters.

Powernoodle, can you post a few pics of those lights? Would love to see them.

Mag-lites modded by Mac's Customs. High Intensity Discharge on left, like you might find in stadium lights. Takes several seconds to reach max output. Sick Osram LED mod on right.

Powernoodle,
That is quite the collection ya got there!!!
Well I have 2 lights on order, a Sunwayman T40CS and a Thrunite Catapult, I appreciate all of the input.
Thanks again gentleman!!

a Sunwayman T40CS and a Thrunite Catapult

The spec on both of those look awesome. They are in the same genre as my now discontinued Tiable ACE, which is a serious thrower. Link.

These days I am seriously digging my Fenix TK-35. Its not a throw monster like those 2x18650 guys, but puts out a major wall of light for its size.

buckmaster,
I just watched a video of that light, WOW, that thing is crazy!! Not sure I would need something that bright!!

The Tiable ACE looks nice powernoodle.
I am anxious to see the 2 lights I ordered in action!!
