High output mini-lights

Thanks for the tips guys. I'm definately going to look into upgrades for the Mag-Lites.

This thread was supposed to be about small lights to put in a PSK, as most don't cast enough light to be worth the lost space, but I guess it's a gadget.

If you think of resources for parts and info for a newb pass it along would you please?

I like my 47's Quark Mini AA. 3 good, useable brightness levels with an efficient LED. SOS, becon (two brightness levels of becon), and strobe. Best part? It's not much bigger than a tube of chapstick and it weighs less than the battery that powers it at .67 of an ounce! If only 47s would have included their moonlight mode for better mode to preserve night vision and battery life.

Another smaller and cheaper option is the Photon Microlight. Obviously it's not in the same league as AA cell light, but it weights virtually nothing, and is about the same size as a nickel.

Here's a pic of the Mini AA with a tube of chapstick and a AA battery.

I'm almost willing to say my fenix ld10 is my favorite piece of edc kit. Well worth every penny, has great battery life, plenty bright enough for anything I've ever needed to do, and has the bonus of using batteries that you can get anywhere that sells batteries. The only things that I think would make this light better is a lower low setting and momentary on.

Fenix L0D= 1AAA, and it will blow your mind. I think it may be as small or smaller than your old Solitaire. Throw it in your pocket and you won't even know it's there until you need it. Then you'll have multiple levels up to IIRC 90 lumens! A very useful light.

Surefire G3 for outdoor incan goodness and a Quark 123 regular for long runtimes and indoors lighting.

Jeans pocket: Nitecore D10 R2 (fantastic light, variable output 2 - 145 Lumen)
Jacket Pocket: Olight Ti Infinitum (Also R2 emitter)
Key ring: Liteflux LF2XT R2

IMO
Everyone should own a Nitecore D10 - fantastic light!

+1.

My D10-R2's been my EDC for probably a couple of years now (Though I swap out to a Zebralight SC50w when I know I'll be spending time in the outdoors). I don't really like the direction they've gone with their newer lights, but Nitecore hit a home run with the original D10 and EX10 models.

Wow! Some of you guys take flashlights way serious!
I have not carried anything at all way more than I've carried a flashlight. I did used to tuck a Maglite Solitare in my pocket as a just in case thing but it isn't bright enough to really be useful for much. Because of this I've just not carried anything at times. But recently my thoughts have changed.
I was going to put together some little kits for my boys to put in their packs and started thinking about a small flashlight. I was thinking about an Inova or similar LED light that would be reliable yet small enough not to be an issue. Doing some digging has REALLY opened my eyes.
The technology has come so far and with my lack of interest it has blown by me. I think a small light would be good to carry now that they're bright enough to actually be useful.
I am blown away by the flashlight geeks completely! It's like it's own sub-culture.

I don't know if you could do any better than a Fenix E01 with a nice bright orange lanyard for your boys packs'. Rock solid, about as bright as a 2AA minimag incan with tons of life off a single AAA.

HDS, is probably the best single cell light on the market. Bombproof and more than bright enough, depending on what your comparing it to.

I would like to check out the ARC6, but they are never in stock.

I've EDC'd most of these lights at one point or another. I've EDC'd the Fenix P2D and variations/upgrades most recently with the PD20 Q5 being my main EDC light since it was introduced.
In my car I keep my most recent purchase, the Solarforce Skyline (not shown in picture) with 3 18650 batteries (one in body and two spares). In my 2nd car I keep the Leatherman Monarch. In my EDC bag I keep the NiteCore EZ CR2 and Fenix PD20.

What about iTP lights?
Thtey seem to offer a lot for the price.

I have the Maratac AAA and AA lights from CountyComm (seem to be identical to iTP models) and an ITP C8 2xAA light.

These are my best lights, I don't have a lot to compare them to but...

The AAA is awesome.

The others are good lights too. My only comment is that in retrospect I would prefer 3 or 4 preset brightness settings to the system that ramps the light level smoothly up and down. It's nifty, but it's also kinda slow, and from a practical standpoint not much more useful than a light with just low-medium-high.
