I'm looking for a somewhat tactical folder under $65 this will be my first purchase over $25.
I'm thinking about a Spiderco native or endura, any other brands or suggestions?

there are sooooo many "value" blades out there.

what are you looking for in the knife? what materials do you want?

the native and endura are both great knives. ome other great ones are the kershaw skyline. spyderco tenacious. kershaw leek.

these are the more common models and there are tons of others out there but i cant think of them ( its pretty late here:yawn: )

Both the Native and Endura are excellent knives. If you want something a bit beefier (and certainly a lot more "tactical" looking), the Cold Steel Recon 1 and American Lawman are also worth a look. And last but certainly not least, Kershaw makes a ton of great knives for $65 and less. The RAM and OD-1 are two of my favorites, but you should probably just browse through their offerings a bit since there are so many good ones to choose from.

OK needs to be a one hand opener, good blade steel for holding an edge, and a 3" or longer blade. I want the best quality knife I can afford, I'm only 16 so I can't pay more than $65.

the spyderco endura is one of the best choices. i recommend it over the native because the endura 4 has steel liners in the handle while the native does not.

I prefer the Endura over the Native as well. In addition to the steel liners, I also find the size and positioning of the Endura's opening hole to make it easier/faster to deploy than the Native. And if you get the full flat ground version of the Endura, it also offers better cutting performance than the Native for many tasks.

your best bet is try and find one of the older Lone Wolf knives. Before benchmade took over they offered excellent value and premium materials. now they dont even list the blade steel on the offical website, something that has kept me from buying another lone wolf knife. the current offers wont be bad. I equate lone wolf to benchmade as byrd to spyderco: as high value entry level brand.

edit-even nutnfancy praised lone wolf in a video pitting the longhorn(trask or maybe it is the swale now..) vs the cold steel lawman

ive got a few enduras they are all screwed construction frn. and the steel choice is tricky s30v has been all the rage for a while lately. but for most users they are the same corrosive resistant wise and vg10 is supposed to be a little softer which i like. but i guess it doesnt either get as or stay shrap as long as s30v, though i have never ownd s30v.

i prefer s30v. it tends to hold a functioning edge for longer. but vg10 is nothing to spit at. in your case, i would get an endura or delica. nothing quite like a good spyderco

Just because it's such a high quality knife, the CAS Teton Lockback, it can be opened with one hand, and it is just gorgeous

Another vote for the Buck Vantage. There are several of them at different price points. Also, Buck has a web special page where you can find some of the Vantages now for a great price!

Kershaw has tons of great blades for under $65.
I have the Zing and it's great. I've also heard a lot of great things about the Skyline.
I would recommend looking through their catalog.

Buck Vantage is a great choice, and you said tactical so I'm voting for the Vantage Force Pro. S30V, G10 scales, what's not to like? Prices vary between the select, avid and pro series.

Spyderco Native would be my choice but there are several good quality folders at that price. Good luck.

Kershaw Leek
Kershaw Scallion
Buck Vantage
CRKT Apache II (You'll have to hunt to find it, but is pretty high quality when you do. ATS-34 Steel)(I got my Apache II for $15)

But, you said the Kershaw's use a softer steel to you, so I would say try the Buck in Sandvik steel or the Apache II in ATS-34
