High quality liner lock

The Spyderco Military comes to mind as THE high quality liner lock, IMHO. The radiused tang, stiff skeletonized liners, and textured liner for better grip make it one of the industry's finest offerings.

I would also say Kershaw makes good inexpensive liner locks as well.

High quality liner lock

From the folders I own I would recommend the Spyderco Military and the Al Mar SERE 2000.
I've always stopped myself from buying Spydercos because most of them are ugle, but recently I purchased a Military in BG42 steel and CF handle, and I must say I'm really impressed with the quality and ergonomics.
The Al Mar SERE 2000 has been my EDC for a couple of years. Solid folder, great clip, good blade steel (VG10).

Kind regards,

Jos

Second the Buck B173 Northshore - very "civilian" looking knife - but the price is right and the knife it'self has been well assembled in the case of the 4 or so I have examined. have also owned a bunch of Kershaw liner locks and not one was bad.
General word of advice - you are better off buying liner locks over the counter rather than over the internet simply because if the lock up is a little bad brand new - it's going to be real bad pretty quick in terms of use.

I'm surprised no mention of Emerson.

Rich

Why? According to the OP's post:

I am talking about a daily use knife, blade somewhere between 2 ½” and 3 ½” and preferably thin in profile. I am not looking for a hard use/tactical style knife; more of an easy to open and close pocket knife.

Don't feel bad though, you weren't the only one who apparently didn't read all of the OP's post.

Al Mar SERE 2000.

Zero Tolerance's O200 would be my first pic. 0400 second. The Kershaw JunkYardDog II in G10 is a good one too for that matter.

I'm guilty too! I still stand by my recommendation of Kershaw. Maybe the Skyline or Groove would be a good fit for you. They are framelocks though. A G-10 Leek is a linerlock, though.

The Skyline is most certainly NOT a framelock! It's a liner-lock. I should know, I'm playing with mine right now.;)

i also say the ZT 0200 and the JYD2 from Kershaw. both lock up tight and are both VERY thick. great knives for the money

just wondering how many people have actually been hurt by the failure of a liner lock.

Seems like if you're using a knife in a way that would cause the liner lock to catastrophically fail, you really should be using another tool for that job.

This pertains to this thread how exactly?

I know a lot of people here are not a fan of CRKT knives, but they've got the strongest liner lock I've experienced out of all the liner locks I've owned. With or without the LAWKS mechanism, they just seem rock solid.

I have an M16 without the LAWKS and I feel very confident when using the knife that it will not come unlocked on me, and it hasn't yet.

IMHO, CRKT has it figured out in their M16 line of knives.

I would say if you are using any knife in away that would cause it's lock to fail or using the knife far beyond it's capabilities and you are not testing it then you should probably find a different tool.

spyderco, BM, emerson & microtech all make good liner locks imho.

nothing at all wrong with a well fitted liner lock imho.
