Well, Hannah is going to finish up the 8th grade in the next few months. Its hard to believe. Tonight we go to her high school orientation and sign her up for electives. I'm sure she's excited, but I have mucho dread. My time is getting short! Yikes!

My oldest is at the same place, they do grow fast and soon will be out of our lives living their own, is a tough process for sure, all the best Andy.

My eldest is graduating high school the same day my youngest graduates 8th grade. One off to college, the other to high school. I know your pain.

I've got two boys. But my eldest just broke up with his girlfriend before his senior prom. His first heartbreak.

Raising kids. It's a minefield...but the stuff life is made of!

Now if I can only get them to stop stealing my prize Fiddlebacks! I can't bring one into the house without the two of them fighting over it like I'm already in the ground or something!

Love my kids!

Good luck, Andy!

Yeah they grow up fast, I guess we just have to enjoy as much time with them as we can, while we can.:)

Wow, the time flies. She has grown so fast! I remember the first time I met her at Blade, and now she's going into high school. The time goes by so fast. My oldest is in her mid twenties now with a family of her own. I remember feeling the pressure in her seventeenth year, it was getting harder and harder to get time out and about with her. Her first success with starting fire with a ferro rod on a rainy day in the autumn of 2010 she used the Bushfinger and was really excited to do it all on her own.

Oh I know. It seems just last week I was bringing him and momma home. He's my camping and fishing buddy all the way. I can't wait till he gets a little older but I'm terrified at the me time.

My older boy attended private school through 8th grade and had good grades. In the public high school, I asked about AP/honors classes. They asked which? I said "all". They were flabbergasted but couldn't do a thing since he hadn't been tracked through the public system. He ended up with multiple high-end classes all the time, whenever it fit the schedule. Did pretty well, though he did say Advanced Placement Calculus "hurts". LOL.

But with his grades and the weird weighting system, he graduated with over a A average. Virginia Commonwealth University found him a 4 year scholarship to engineering school and we didn't even have to apply. So do get involved and take charge of your child's education the best you can. Get to know the staff, teachers and counselors. Look for opportunities to keep the kid challenged and get them on the top.

My kid wasn't a knife enthusiast like me. He seemed to prefer stuff that had moving parts and made noise. He did have one nice Boker knife.

My wife and I just got home from our -welcome to high school meeting. First kid in high school - scary but exciting times.
I admit - I was checking the Fiddleback page during the meeting :D

I still have a few years till my oldest hits HS. I've got the 3 girls here and the fourth that's arriving the beginning of June  That means Daddy gets more guns and knives to keep them boys away! Time really does fly. My oldest just turned 10 and she informed me that she's a 'tween' now and not a kid anymore! Put the brakes on little girlie!
