High School Orientation

These hands won't be small much longer either. Mine are 12 and 9. Hopefully Hannah has some good choices to make.

Texas_toothpick, I love the way your son is looking down at the fish as if it's no big deal, just another fish.

I got a few years before I'm in that teenage stage.

My boys first fish. I cast it for him he reeled him in. :D

Love that pic. Really a special time. thats a nice fish to be the first he reeled in.

My youngest turned 1 today. I've got a long ways to go but all ready dreading the teenage years.

You'll be suprised at how fast it happens. I say its like trying to hold water in your hands. No matter what you do, it just slips away.

Good luck Andy!!
My daughter is going to turn 4 this year so a while before I'm in your shoes [emoji3]

Thats a fun age. I miss that a loit.

My wife and I just got home from our -welcome to high school meeting. First kid in high school - scary but exciting times.
I admit - I was checking the Fiddleback page during the meeting :D

Yea. I felt old. And I felt very scared for my naive know it all daughter.

I still have a few years till my oldest hits HS. I've got the 3 girls here and the fourth that's arriving the beginning of June  That means Daddy gets more guns and knives to keep them boys away! Time really does fly. My oldest just turned 10 and she informed me that she's a 'tween' now and not a kid anymore! Put the brakes on little girlie!

Enjoy it my friend. Those tweens go quick...

We'll see. She'll certainly have a lot of new choices that scare daddy next year.

What a great thread! Here's my little princess after her dentist appointment this week! She just turned 2 a couple months ago is already a handful. The teenage years will likely land me in prison or an asylum! God bless you Andy!

The middle school years have been hard. Mainly because of catty girl society rather than boys. Now high school comes and I am terrified about the boys.

Fun and scary times ahead for you Andy. My daughter graduates high school this year. Been through the catty girl drama and the boy drama. She found out last night she's been accepted to both her 1st and 2nd choice colleges. Now to figure out how to pay for it. My son heads off to Middle School next year.

Having spent 17 years now raising my sons, and 22 years working with middle school aged children, I can contribute this:

I'd rather deal with the girls during middle school...the boys are a mess! Even with the catty girl drama...30 middle school boys are a full time adventure!

I'd rather deal with the boys during high school...the girls are a mess! Even with the poor and at times dangerous decisions the boys make, the girls won't listen to you if you tell them the building is on fire!

Yeah, parenting...and teaching! I bounce from my personal single dad/two boy drama to 104 7th and 8th graders every day.

Expect to find me huddled in my tent at Trackrock, rocking back and forth, possibly crying! Hahahahahaha!

Pups the lot of you, mine are 35, 31, 27 and 18. Yup, a caboose, wife was 42 with the last one. That's when I got "whacked"!
Can't say enough about the importance of good academics from 9th grade on. My baby is heading off to the U of U this summer, full tuition and fees academic scholarship. You never quit worrying about them though.

The Wheel turns, and ages come and go...

Seems only a blink ago he was born, and now Madden is 5, graduating Pre K just a few days before his second open heart surgery. I could never be more proud of him than when after wanting nothing more for days than to go home, he walked himself right out of the hospital room down the halls, elevators and through the lobby and parking garage nearly a quarter of a mile back to the car all by himself, refusing any help from anyone. Just so ya'll know, he just had a GREAT first follow up with his cardiologist and should be hitting on all cylinders in about 3 weeks.
