Hi Friends,

Here's another little batch of some high school sophomores (10th graders) and their mostly completed railroad spike knives. Talk about having fun...!!!

All the best, Phil

I wish WE had fun classes like that! I'll definitely take shop class next year (my sophomore year)

Great job!!! I'd watch the guy in the back though, he looks a little shifty to me :D

Not to worry, he's one of the nicest, gentlest fellas...although he did take third place in an international karate competition in Japan last fall. BTW, his is the little one all the way to the right.

Great job! I'm sure you all had a ball making those and those kids'll have great memories for a lifetime.

They are a lot better than the knives that the grade 12s who made them at my school. They did a good job.

One look at the photo and you can tell what great kids they are. Yes, as their forge teacher (not that I know very much), I have a BLAST working with them. I just have to make sure they're safe and don't get carried away having too much fun!

Great googly moogly!! You actually allowed or even encouraged children to make knives?!? Don't you know that will turn them all into serial killers?!?

:D

Oh wait, they might have learned something about craftsmanship and pride. Carry on!

Nice work, chief. :)

Nice to see this, especially given how touchy alot of people seem to be given the topic of knives:( Actually they produced some mighty fine looking blades:eek: They all look great the 2nd and 3rd from the right are very nice!
This just made my morning, always great to see something like this.
I'm always telling the wife that if i had it to do again i'd have gone the route of being an Art teacher rather than into the Graphic Arts field... one is a fairly rewarding experience and the other is well:barf::grumpy:
thanks

There's not a better way to spend your day, than teaching a child. They all look like they had a blast:thumbup:

Phil that is cool to teach young people like that. Over hear the schools have metal detector's and you are in big dodo if you get cought with a sharp anything.

That is fantastic! congrats to the class on jobs well done.I applaud the school too,you cant even talk about knives in school up here in tightassville.

That is awesome. It is actually amazing you are able to do that with them. Considering the state of our country and security in schools today. Mention a knife in or around a school here and run for cover.
