Higher end EDC legal for Chicago?

If you get a knife with a pocket clip and use it, you don't have to worry about the concealed law. Get whatever you like. Many states have concealed knife laws. Though, some cities have laws about only carrying concealed and not clipped, so just read up on your city's laws.

its not over priced. its out of your price range rather. notice its a quality product, not a mass produced in China at questionable quality.

the company is pretty well known as they produce knives for companies you might have knives from already. but those brands don't advertise the manufacturer.

No it's not out of my price range. I'm sure it's a well made knife and maybe because of all that titanium it's expensive. A knife that size is going to be very light even without the gram shaving of titanium. Also CPM 154 is a great steel, but on a blade that expensive I'd like to see S35.
I wouldn't dissuade anyone from getting it. There is a bit of prestige of a quality knife from a company not to many people have heard of.

I am sure William Henry makes quite a bit in your range.

The Al Mar Hawk Classic Gentleman's Pocket Knife offers a few configurations you may like.

They have black micarta, two colors of mother-of-pearl, stainless... it's a fine piece.

If you are after some titanium/carbon fiber action, Spyderco offers the Pingo, Vrango and the Dice in your size and price range. They're pretty cool.

Take a look at the Knifemaker's Market section in the Exchange, you can find some great little folders in your price range.

Happy hunting, anyways. That's part of the allure of this hobby.

Or, as a "grail" of sorts, you can always join the legion that is looking for a CRK Umfaan.
Basically a sebenza with a 2.25" blade.

I usually carry a Spyderco Techno or Tenacious and haven't had any issues. As stated earlier, as long as you aren't acting stupid you should be fine. I am friends with several LEO's and they all say the same thing. It's more behavior than anything else. I also carry a JK Hikers Backup fixed blade in my back pack 2.5" blade 5.75" OAL.

Just moved to Chicago and I'm doing a lot of knife rotating to 2.6 and under. Currently I'm carrying a spyderco mini dyad in micarta and ats 55. It's got a plain edge and serrated both at 2.25 inches. Tomorrow my esee candiru will arrive to supplant my izula for city fixed carry. Also have a gec 15 and custom built beerscout on their way this week. It isn't what I'd want, but there are great options for Chicago legal carry.
