I'm looking for a relatively higher end folder and I've got a few I've been looking at at around the prince range of $100-200, mostly under $160.

What I've been looking at has included:

-ZT 200, ZT 350, ZT 302
-Bradley Alias 1 and 2
-Doug Ritter Grip
-Spyderco Captain

Can you guys advise me which one of these you guys like the most?

Thanks.

Spyderco Military/Superhawk/Caly3

ZT's are tanks, expect them to pull your pants down. The Alias is nice, the Captain is really purpose built, and I just don't like the Grips.

I don't like plastic that much. I like the feeling of a solid folder--my vote goes for the ZT's or the tyrade that was mentioned earlier.

The alias isn't a bad choice either.

I’ve been having a hard time getting the Alias out of my head. It stands on its own merits and it’s one heck of a knife.

I have both the Spyderco Superhawk and Stretch 2. Both have tremendous ergonomics and great cutting full flat grind blades. The Superhawk has a great relaxed hawkbill, and the Stretch 2 a 3.5" blade of 65rc ZDP-189 that has amazing edge taking and edge retention abilities. I love the hawkbill in VG-10 on the Superhawk as it cuts with amazing ability and versatility, but if that doesn't float your boat the amazing full bellied ZDP-189 blade on the Stretch 2 will amaze you with it's cutting ability and edge retention. The Superhawk has an unbelievably strong and easy to use compression lock while the Stretch 2 has the treid and true and very strong Spyderco mid-lock-back. Both are great knives, and both have been in my front pockets at all times lately. The peel ply carbon fiber on them is both grippy and great looking. I highly recommend either knife as superior cutting tools of superb materials, fit and finish, and especially function as cutting tools. They are currently my two favorite folders ever.

I was recently trying to decide on which knife to buy out of a similar list. I ended up getting a BM Skirmish. If you find one buy it. In a way, if you threw all the knives on the list in to a blender you make Skirmish.

I would recommend Bradley Alias. I've been using my black coated G-10 version for some weeks now and it is an awesome folder. It cuts extremely well, the grip is solid even when wet thanks to the G-10 on one side, and it is light and easy to carry. I bought it as a backup for my Al Mar Sere 2000 but it has replaced the Al Mar eventually.

I can't recommend the knife highly enough and I am about to order another one. Poor man's Sebenza? Could well be, but for 170 Euros (200 - 220 bucks) it is hard to get another folder with such qualities as an Alias.

If you want something beastly, tough, and like heft then I would go for the ZT030X or the Tyrade. (Especially look at the G-10 Tyrade over the 0350.)

If you want something lighter, slimmer, and more all around EDC then Alias, Para Military, or Stretch 2 are good choices.

These are all under $200 off the trade forum. If you can stretch the budget to $300 area then a used Sebenza would be where my money would go...

You might want to look at the BM HK 14210. Snody design, machined G10 handles and Axis lock. Quality is very good. I rotate EDC mine with a small Sebenza.

Doug Ritter Grip!

Another Arrogant Bastard fan, I see? I loves me a Stone's Russian Imperial Stout now and again. Stone brews some fine beers, similar to Rogue Breweries. Absolutely delicious stuff.

Also, I'd have to second this. Grippy handles are great.

I split my time between the Alias and Ritter. I have 5 Ritters 3 Large and 2 smalls an 6 Alias"s both small and large. Of the Alias the one that goes in my pocket most often is the G10 version with the tiger strip edge. They only made 25 of those if I remember right.
Both great knives.
I probably have over 50 customs but still carry the Ritter or Alias most of the time.
If I had to go with just one it would probably be the Alias but its real close. You cant go wrong with either.

ZT0200 got my vote. But Josh K is correct, it will pull your pants down !! Built like a tank though. I just can't imagine any general usages that could destroy this knife. Even the pins that hold the handle slabs together are huge!!

Just tighten your belt a notch and you'll do okay with the ZT0200! At least I do.

With the very recent introduction of the G-10 Tyrade, I have to second it. At the prices it is going for, you can buy two and still have money in your budget for a nice under $40 knife. I feel we got really lucky when Kershaw decided to take the leftover blades from the original Tyrade project and used them in the G-10 series. If this knife was built from the bottom up with having to manufacture the blades from the beginning, you would see a much steeper price. Look at this way, Kershaw is giving us a $175 knife for ~$80! This is not a knife that you will be able to find in a few months, if that long. A once in a long, long time oppurtunity!!:thumbup::) My opinion at least.

i was looking at the tyrade... not too found of the shape of the knife of itself but love the color scheme and composite blade... ughhhh... what to do.....

the bradley looks amazing but I'm afraid i'll just baby it. all the knives I own right know are sub $100 so.... i'm afraid i'd baby it

does anybody know the running street price of the Alias 1 and 2 (new and used)?

thanks
