From your experience,
What knife has the highest grind and thinnest blade?

Does anyone know what thickness is the blade on the William Henry quest?

Alvin Johnson's customs are less than 1/16" thick and have full height hollow grinds, they are ~0.015" thick at 1/4" back from the edge. In comparion, something like the Deerhunter is a prybar.

Try an exacto knife blade. Put it in your right hand, place it to the left side of your throat and pull it to your right, hard.

Sounds harsh, but I am sick of this troll. Ban him or me, I don't care anymore. Happy, Cliff?

[edited to add: this place is going down the drain.]

Not only is this in clear violation of Bladeforums posting policies, but as a more significant aside, this is a wonderful image for the public to see of knife users. That is how you react when someone upsets you, you just confirmed the worst opinions of our sub-culture.

This forum is quickly becomming a haven for trolls. Either people should start being banned or the place will continue to go strait to Hell. If you think I am a bad example then you haven't paid any attention to the almost seven years worth of posting I have done here. I'm sick of this idiot being allowed to continue posting his bile while dragging the name of a good company into the mud with him.

To Hell with him and anyone who continues to support him in any way, shape or form.

what steel does he use to go that thin?

He usually uses 1095, but also has made knives from M2 and O1.

And what could you expect to cut without chipping?

You can cut most anything, even carve metals / bone, however you can't subject them to impacts or lateral strain, so no twisting or batoning. They have little plastic deformation ability.

I'm sick of this idiot being allowed to continue posting his bile ....

Then put him in your killfile and you never had to read anything he says again.

To Hell with him and anyone who continues to support him in any way, shape or form.

Your attacks are exactly what trolls desire to induce, it is exactly the support they desire.

I do agree he should have been banned long ago as he is lying and using character attacks.

I don't think he is harming Spyderco however as no one is taking him seriously, aside from you.

although he is a proven chucklehead, his question in this post seemed straitforward & non-troll-ish; am I missing something?

The Spyderco Calypso Jr has a very thin grind on a moderately thin blade. Lots of Spydercos are like this actually, but the Calypso Jr has a reputation for being a pocket laser. The Benchmade 710 has a relatively thin blade (compared to lots of other 4" knives). The 921 Switchback has an even thinner blade, although it's also smaller, so the actual hight of the grind might not differ much.

Did the moderator delete an entry from this thread? What are people upset about? I can't figure out what started the comments about a "troll".

It isn't this thread, but comments he made in others. Some people are pulling a ghostsix.

Cliff: Are Alvin Johnson's customs "available" I've never seen one for sale. Are they useful for general food prep (veggies, boneless cuts of meat, etc.) or are they flexible fillet type knives? Thanks.

I doubt you ever will, he doesn't sell them and I can't imagine anyone who has them ever selling one. Tom Krein can also do an extreme hollow grind drop him an email.

They are very stiff due to the hardness, they don't flex at all during the cutting.

How do Krein's grinds compare to Johnson's? Being a custom maker of very suitable skill, I imagine he could grind it as thin as you wanted.
