I went out tracking today..had a great time. I had an offer to go for a hike with a friend somewhere else, but opted to go out sollo...I am glad I did. I saw dozens of animal tracks..mostly deer and rabbit, but I guess that you guys have seen those before. I included a mink track and a fisher. also I saw coy dog and house cat..squirel and skunk...and what I believe is moose. The tracks weren't clear, but the scat gave it away...the tracks were in a heavyly run game trail..mostly mud and fresh deer tracks covering everything. Lots of deer out here. Can anyone find the woodpecker nest, and tell me how many trees and what kind are in some of the tree shots. Also, what kind of Fungas is on the birch? Ofcourse I included some knife porn...I actually carried all these in a backpack...I figured I would get some personal testing in as well. The FBM is king! Enjoy, Gene

Nice shot of the different trees that grow here. You can just see the Mountain laurel in the bottum of the pic, the hill is covered in the stuff, that and all the White Oak is the reason for all the deer here.

Yeah. That looked real handy. Nice pics too. Like the birch, doesn't grow around here but in the Mtn's

What knife is the one with the antler handle?

Its a Custom by R, Covington..I traded for it as a user, and it is a great knife, fast in the hand and has just enough forward weight. Scary sharp.

My parents gave it to me..it says on the card that it was free from the state of NH. I would assume that they are easy to find online. Gene

To everyone..thanks for the comments, and PIT..your assuming that I have major computer skills...lol. I'll give it a shot, only because of all your hard work on the photo's here. Gene

Gene, I'm no fungus expert, but that might be some very young Birch Bracket (aka razor strop fungus). It seems like that is one of the more common fungi that grow on birch trees. I've only seen it in it's later stages, so I'm not sure what it looks like young. Just a guess. -Matt-
