the shelter.

pretty comfy. all it needs is a bottle of my favorite bourbon, a laptop with a high-speed net connection (gotta have my bladeforums daily fix!), a poster of the esee girl on the wall and i bet i can stay there nice and comfortable for a week :D

ah, the junglas...first time chopping something with it. 4-6 chops and the downed tree limb came off. sweetness!

a few minutes of chopping and next thing i know the fire wood is starting to pile up.

the esee-4 & junglas enjoying the camp fire. the victorinox trekker stayed in my pocket.

finally, the leaves are out! it just seemed forever that everything was brown and in winter mode.

the esee-4 near my belt buckle & the junglas to my left. if it weren't for the orange paracord on the handle, it's hard to tell even in person that i have a knife on my belt with the esee-4 on that position. even though i was hiking i made sure there weren't anyone around before i put the junglas on my belt though...with nj/ny having the toughest gun laws i figure any sheeple seeing such a large knife would freak out just as well :(

after just one hike, i think the esee-4 & junglas is my preferred hiking knife gear. the trekker stays in my front pocket, the esee-4 on my belt, and the junglas attached on my pack.

i saw this shell of a shelter about 1/4 mile away from the parking lot.

when i returned to my car this crow landed nearby, seemingly mocking me..."what? going back to comforts of civilization after just a few hours? sissy! i have to live here 24/7!".

051010_23.jpg

tossed my gear on the trunk and then i noticed a pile of wood chainsaw'd nearby. figured i'd take a chunk or two home to play with so i flipped the smallest chunk over with one of my hiking sticks first to make sure no snake is hiding underneath...out pops this little guy.

i keep snakes and tarantulas as pets but i admit it still freaked me out a little. after realizing it's not venomous (as far as i know) and being filipino, the second thought that came to my mind was, "is it edible?" :D

anyway, i think the esee-4 compliments the junglas very well and will be my goto hiking knives. the junglas feels very light and quick in the hands despite it's intimidating size. the handle is very comfortable too for extended chopping and overall it almost makes chopping for fire wood way too easy!

I am so going to quote you all day long..."and being filipino, the second thought was- is it edible?" lol

Nice review.

Thanks for sharing these beautiful photos, I'm stuck behind my desk and there's a lotta work to do...wish I could go out there and enjoy life a bit more. But I think I need one of those junglas...^^

I agree that is a super nice shelter:thumbup:

Thanks for sharing your adventure and pics!

Nice adventure, life is for living!

Great pics!!! I love the outdoors and I love pics of knives being used the way they were meant to be. Knives and guns are similar. Some are safe queens and some were meant to be used. I think that ESSEs and Beckers are the Glocks of the knife world. They are every day tools that just look better the more they are used.
Thanks for sharing your outdoor moments

You have some great pics there with you and your Junglas in use. That is one hell of shelter, hell you could rough it in that thing for quite a while. Great thread!

I need to get out more....
I am located in Middlesex county and I don't know too many places to go in the state..yet. Where in NJ is that?
