This is in the San Gabreal Mountains, East of LA. And the little trout are all that is in the river, at least at this time of year.

I hike there in those mountains a lot. Arroyo Seco, Switzer Falls, Santa Anita Loop, Studervant Falls, Mt. Wilson?

Good job brother and I also fish an ulta light ugly stick one piece 4'8" or the 5' two piece both with 4lb line--killer set up for trout-my preferred species! Were you drifting an egg or using a lure? Panther Martins for me on the troutskies!

I think this is the East Fork of the San Gaberal River, the rod is a Ugly Stick ultralite pack rod (5piece) and I was using a black and red Panther Martin.

Nice pics. And that is a beautiful area, I need to get over there more often.

Ever try the Cleveland National Forest near Orange County? Holy Jim Trail and waterfalls? Up to the peak and back its a nice 17 mile roundtrip to Santiago Peak. There is also Bear Canyon Trail (same name as the Bear Canyon Trail in San Gabriels) up to Sitton Peak. A good 10 mile round trip.
