I did an 11 ½ mile hike this weekend in the Cleveland National Forest in Southern CA-Verdugo Trail. The highlight of the hike was when we came across the most aggressive, angry bees I’ve ever encountered. Once we saw them it was too late—they were on us like white on rice on a paper plate in a snowstorm (Major Pain). It was ugly for a while. I only got stung twice and needed the help of my trusty Vic SAK to help with stinger removal. I’ve been stung by some pretty nasty things but this was right up there with fire ants in Peru. After I used the tweezers to remove the stingers, it burned for a long time after. Casualties…one small neck knife was lost in the scurry to get out of there. I am lucky I don’t panic in silly situations, but, I can’t say the same about my hiking partner. Let’s just say, she was a bit shaken up. Besides that, the hike was great full of scenery and mountain lion scat. Hope you enjoy the pics!

The hero of the day award goes to the tweezers on the Hiker!

Nice pictures, next time you get stung don't use the tweezers, just scrape them out with your knife. The tweezers squashes the sack and gives you another dose of the venom.

Oh man! Glad you guys made it out ok! Nice pics as always even though they came with price.

I really didn't know you had a 3rd nipple with the word "Princess" tattooed above it!!!!!!! nice pics by the way!!!!!

Nice pics, but bummer about the bees. I'm curious as to what ended the attack.

Was hiking in the Cleveland National Forest with a buddy in Spring and we talked about the possibility of a bee attack. Figured we'd cover our heads best we could, haul butt down the trail as quickly as we could, and hope for the best.

Awesome photos as always Reuben, beautiful scenery. Is that Yucca in the first pics? It gets a lot taller out there than it does here. I too am curious as to how you ditched the bees. Not having the tweezers is one of the things I don't like about the Vic Soldier Knife I have. Nasty looking sting, and cool tattoo I suppose but bro... you really don't look the princess part :p

1. what is the widget hiding behind the Photon?
2. where dou you get that FAT firesteel? (or a brand & model of that one)

Looks like a TOPS fire starter to me.

That Coyote was eating Ephedra! Lol. Just kidding it would be awesome to see Coyote on speed though.

Sort of.

Nice pics bro, how you liking the Pathfinder, I didn't realize it was that big.

Great pics! I`m assuming the pic of the bee sting was Gina? I`m hoping you don`t have Princess tattooed on your back!
