My days off are midweek now, so the spots I hike are pretty quiet when I'm there. I went out yesterday for about 10 km and had a great time. I had my SLR (35mm) with me, so I shot a couple rolls. Enjoy!

Edit: the forum being what it is, I should have put up a pic of what I was packing. I was going to get a shot at the trailhead on the way out, but I forgot right up until the shutter clicked on the last shot of the last roll I had. Here's one from back at the house. Too bad I took it with the phone !

The folder is one I built up from a blank, and a Leatherman Supertool

Great pics. I haven't been able to get out on a hike for a while, posts like these keep me sane :)

Looks awesome, around my parts the bucks are starting to lose there antlers, so shed hunting is coming up this weekend for me.

Thanks guys, I'm just getting back into 35mm after deciding that I'm not going to get spendy on a digicam after all. Too many other costs, 35mm is what I know, and I've got some decent (though not great) gear.

In the title, I put "long and pic heavy" because I had a bunch of text and captions that I deleted cause I thought it just got in the way. One question I'll put back in though:
Take a look at the pics of the water. The white that's there isn't just the light and it isn't fog. It's actually a milky contaminant in the water. It's heavier than the water, so it's settling out in the slower water, but only in the bottom half of its depth. It's not likely to be any sort of industrial contaminant, given where it is. There's no significant fish populations there, so it's not from spawning. Dunno, I'm stumped.....any thoughts?

A bit of a funny story...I had to stalk for maybe 1/2 hr to cross a 100m clearing while I was following the deer. The grass was dead and frozen and I thought that every noise I made was SO loud it was going to spook them for sure. I kinda had to go the long way round to stay downwind, but when I got to where they were, I was able to get into the creekbed so just my head and shoulders were sticking up above the bank. After all that, the thundering crash that the camera's shutter made (at least to me!) didn't faze them. I was even able to slowly drop down and change rolls with scaring them. It wasn't until the caught scent of the dog that they bolted.

Pitdog, I'm on the Sunshine Coast.
The pics are in a spot near Gibsons that's still too rocky and steep to be developed (so far...but that's changing fast). Those two clearings (the one I mentioned and the one in the pics) were cleared a long time ago as part of a planned firebreak when the adjacent area was developed. There's a few cool looking pieces of equipment rusting away that should make for some good shots sometime. One is a blower that's 8-10 feet across coupled to what looks like a 3 cyl Detroit Diesel.

We are going to visit my wifes aunt in Horse shoe bay in Feb, maybe we could meet up for a coffee !
