Hikv 2013-2015

What an incredible collection! I spent an enjoyable 30 minutes just trying to identify everything.

I'm going to print this picture out and show it to my wife the next time she says I have too many knives.

OK now I'm VERY interested. Can you mark it down? I can retouch the pictures to put numbers besides all pieces to help the process.

I didn't always follow my own advice and retracing Yangdu posts for each pieces is sometime difficult. Because the forum search engine is not flexible and limited to 40 pages results.
But fortunately I kept all invoices :D

Snow, back away from the computer... Now

Thats what my wife is always telling me. "Everytime you get on there you buy something!"

Thanks GB - Speaking of sharing - I have one piece of humble advice for any HIKV victim who is sharking for Deals Of The Days (DOTDs)

Unless you have a photographic memory: save a pdf/mht/print/screenshot of Auntie and or Karda's DOTD offer when you get your Done Deal confirmation.

You will then be able to keep tracks of the names/specs and Kamis who did your Kuks.

Thats what Ive been trying to do lately but every once in a while some will ask me some specs and it takes me four hours to find it but I can usually find it (right cul?). I aint as fast as Mr. Tall but eventually it happens. Ive got three or four layers of folders with pics, post, thread, etc. now but im still backtracking. This HIKV is teaching me to get my skat together:D What sucks is I host my own website/domain where I keep all my pics so if my account ever changes all my bladeforum pics will be gone. I can put them back on but it would likely be by request only. I got a few more months before that could happen tho. I considered building my own server but that sounds like another project i dont need now.

As long as it's found, right?

I usually keep seperate folders of each knife with a .doc file on their specs, the thread link, the email request and response from auntie,.jpg pics, and all of those folders are in my HI folder. It helps to keep everything organized.

I started just putting a hang tag on each knife when it arrives. I take a piece of paper and put in the sheath to show me which sheath fits what knife. I think I'm close to having them all.
I sadly didn't write specs, just the kami and the model. Keep meaning to get a scale to weigh on but hasn't happened yet.

I just use my arm. Just right, pretty heavy, really heavy, light, pretty technical.

Cul and Bawanna - I wish I had your level discipline.

ndog - I know the feeling. I don't know them personally but my geek friends are raving about IaaS cloud services with relatively cheap storage fees. Or even just Cloud storage.
if your stuff is visible under whatever (www.ndog.com/pics/cutekitty.jpg) you can always have the same structure hosted somewhere else - just need a DNS update, no?
Unless you're under a (www.hosting-services.com/ndog/pics/cutekitty.jpg)

Im under a hosting service (crapdaddy:D) but I do own the domain. (ndoghouse.com). I used to use Corell to manage a more formal website and such but now its just a photodump as you can see. I dont care for cloud service or should I say I dont yet trust it. I really dont see any advantage to it. Maybe just my ignorance but Id rather store everything at home where its ten times faster to access. I will check out that service. Thanks for the info. It would be easier i suppose.

Bawanna: I have a tag on my GCB! But you cant see it till I get my toe tag.

I rotated 90deg the first picture and numbered all the pieces, then added it at the end of the first post.

I'm still in awe. That's a great collection of great blades.

:D I have couples of friends who like blades too...

I realize how serious my HIKV problem was when I started to have difficulties to handle the whole collection alone in a single crate.

Add to this about 15 custom knives from the great knife makers who are posting their work here on the KnifeMaker's Market. Those are much lighter in the hand but quite more damaging to the wallet.

Naw...we just always a tipping the piggy back, and nothing much falls out. So we need to spend idle time with what we got, rather than getting what we want...:)

Quote of the day and Words of wisdom: "So we need to spend idle time with what we got, rather than getting what we want..."
Whole bunch of truth in that right there.

I drink to this too. I's apparently on the top 5 list of things to do to be happy in life. Even the Dalai Láma says so.
