Will, you are correct!
I think we got too using this term from Uncle Bill calling the "laha" Himalayan epoxy.
That may have been the reason Pala asked that it be called by it's proper name "laha."
It is a compound made from tree sap and no telling what else.
Uncle Bill related too me once that some of the village kamis sometimes added animal blood and other assorted liquids to the mix.
It is heated to about 250* and then poured into the handles and bolsters and the butt cap and keeper is added quickly before it sets up. Uncle has stated about how careful the kamis are when using this stuff to keep from being burned. I imagine it is almost like boiling tar except possibly thinner.
Laha! Thanks, Yvsa, between the two of us we've got one pretty good memory.
Did Bill say there was beeswax in there?
Also, last time Pala came over he liked epoxy so much he reportedly took a bagful back with him. Maybe Gelbu found some epoxy on a search for cured horn or something.
