Himalayan Imports Black Friday Sales

Got the DD on the MMCR. Can't wait. I tried waiting, but I gave in and bought it.

MMCR is an awesome little knife. Little by HI standards I guess to clarify.

I love mine near as much as my micro bowie and that says a whole lot. Just real handy in so many ways.

And a knife like this for this kind of money is ridiculous. But I'm glad, probably wouldn't be able to get one otherwise.

You done good Scara - i would have ems this too ^ _ ^
Thank you

Problem is, I bought that, then I stumbled upon a Chassepot bayonet at a Renaissance festival today. I may have spent too much on knives today.

The MMCR arrived today. I love it. Not a big blade, but it feels like a big blade, in a good way that is. But due to some circumstances it's gone back in the box, and won't come out of it until Christmas. It's a magnificent blade.

Ems
16 inch 23 ounce Foxy Folly by Kumar. Satisal wood handle. $100 even.
14.4 inch 7 ounce Kitchen/camp Knife by Purna. horn handle. $95.
17.5 inch 33 ounce Amar Sing Thapa Knife by Anil. Satisal wood handle. $95.

All them on my list! Great buys and grats scrappy! Those are some awesome blades!

I just got my knives and guess what???
That kitchen/camp knife is a western w49. The tang is stamped western USA W49. Crazy huh? It's been reground and engraved with the usual HI markings. I love both western and HI so I am happy with it :)

There's a story related to those knives in more detail elsewhere but the short version in Mr. Howard Wallace hand carried a bunch of those Westerns over to Nepal. They were blanks as I recall, no handles.
The kamis cleaned them up, put their own touches and spells on them and offered them up to us loyal HI fans.

I don't have one myself yet but hopefully some day. I've heard nothing but good stuff about them.

I can't imagine what Mr. Wallace must have gone through to pack a sack full of those blades all the way to Nepal.

That is a neat read. I am suprised at the cost. Seems low to me np based on all the info but, I am glad with it :)

Ya what BB said!! $95 is definitely the best I've seen for those. In fact, I thought those were long gone! I got mine late spring/early summer and Auntie said there weren't many left. You got lucky on many accounts! How was the edge on yours? Sharp and consistent? Mine had some spots shaving sharp, and some less so. Definitely usable, but I'm super picky when it comes to that, so I've done some work on the belt to make it nice and convex.

There are parts very sharp on the edge but the last 1.5 inches at the tip don't even come together on the grind. They come close but it's definetly a flat spot. I will run it through my work sharp and give it a secondary bevel across the whole blade so it's more robust. It's a primary bevel right into the edge, so I bet it's a great kitchen slicer for a big blade but I want more of a camp knife out of it.
Mine is stamped M.
