Himalayan Imports Giant Spear Vala for Wednesday Night

I hear ya Steely! Cant wait to strap this one on! Speaking of which. How would y'all carry this? Im thinking baldric. Might need some custom pants.
The fullers on this Vala kinda make me think of the tip of a Manjushree on Viagra! Think about it.... Not too hard tho:D

that long of one, man I dunno how you would carry it. Conan style maybe:P

My 14" version I made a high and tight sheath that snugs the guard up to ride right on top of my belt to help distribute the weight. Sort of the same way a good pancake holster can distribute the weight of a 40oz 1911. Fairly comfy sheath, really.

I was just thinking, perhaps the reason the tag says Sher is because it's a "Sher Spear Vala" as opposed to the original style davidf99 posted the picture of? And the maker of this one is Purna, kind of like how a Kumar Karda can be made by other kamis?

I don't know the origins of the Spear Vala, so this is just speculation, but seeing David's Spear Vala by Sher compared to the original he posted later got me thinking. What do you guys think?

It hurts my brain to think but that's exactly what I was thinking too. It's Sher's model but Purna built it.
I got nothing to back that up for sure. I suspect we'll know for sure when Kamidogs eye swelling goes down after his wife see's it and he can see the kami mark.

Poor unemployed drifter unable to support his wife in the manner to which she's accustomed and he buys this.

Smart man if you ask me.

I'm not sure which design came first for HI, but they are different enough to deserve different names, and calling the fullered one a Sher Spear Vala is one way to distinguish them. The differences between these models is like the difference between a Sirupati and a Chitlangi, the latter having fullers, a wider handle flare and fancier details. (I don't mention size difference because any model can be made larger or smaller.)

Ok Im back! Whew. I had to make me a new "Will work for Khukuris" sign. One poor fella gave me a bottle of antibiotic and wished me best of luck on my infection. He thot Khukris was a south pacific parasitic condition. Any way counting my change and picking the broken glass from my feet I think im gonna go to cyber begging or something. Much safer and healthier. Wonder if I can find a new wife there if mine leaves me?

I think your prolly right David. Thats pretty much what I was thinking. Of course my thinking dont do much more than Bawannas thinking when it comes to naming these things. Were both taxonomical geniusesessi but whatever Aunti calls them thats what they are;) Sure was hoping it was in my driveway today but I guess it'll be in the driveway tomorrow. Yall hang tight and ill get some pics soon as it arrives.

Your right Steely! I havent thought about the weight of a fully loaded 1911. They get pretty heavy and belt level would work. Also it has the least slop there when drawing. Ill have to think about it some. I have a bunch of 12-14 ounce buffalo hide that might work for this monster.
