Hi there Stonesell. I see you had this blade for sale a time ago. I am a new member and just getting started with the KUHKRI addiction. That Salyan is kinda small for a KUHKRI, based on what I've seen on other sites. Is it kind of a "show piece" type model? I'm sure it's fully functional. Just curious. Let me know. Thanks.

The Salyan is one of the Uncle Bill memorial knives. This one is the smaller size Salyan, there is also a size that is much larger at 15 to 18 inches long. If you want the large size, I am sure that Yangdu can place a special order for you. The smaller size Khukuris are fully functional. The trade off would be ease of carry, and useful for many basic jobs, but not suitable for the large chopping tasks.

Tedward, Thanks for the offer, but I won't sell it for $80.00. I now have another buyer that is interested in the Salyan, and I am waiting for his decision.

Ok. Let me know. Hope I didn't offend you. I guess the price has to do with the kami who made it? I'm just getting started at this so........ I would like to buy that for my Dad. If the other member isn't interested, let me know what you gotta have for it. I have a Pay Pal account ready to go. Thanks again! Ted

Tedward, I will let you know either way, as soon as I hear back from the other buyer. He said that he may need until tomorrow to get back to me.

Ok man. Thanks for the correspondence. I am a new member and I don't officially own a Kuhkri as of today. I bought 2 Friday and I'm looking for one for my Dad. Something special. He's 82, so he won't be carving his way through the jungles of the Amazon anytime soon, so I have concluded a 12" or so kuhkri is perfect thanks to your thoughts.
I have been stuck at home because my back went out a week ago today. In my painful spare time this week, i saw an image of a kuhkri on some web page and boom,......an obsession started. I sent my Dad an email link to a YouTube video showing actual Nepali kami's making them, then he shared with me a bit of history about Gurkhas. I had no idea he knew anything about them. It was cool. So i joined this site to educate myself.
So I thought it would be a cool gift for the man who never wants us boys to buy him a gift. Anyway, just wanted to let you know how this quest got started in the first place. Have a great evening. Ted

Okay. Thanks for your time and patience. If you hear or see anything else along those lines please give me a shout. I've got until Christmas. Thanks again, Ted
