Hinderer Flood

Right, but when you're shelling out that much for a knife, people often would rather wait for the newer steel since they're still the same price.
Valid point, I'd probably be in the same boat. After getting two of my more recent folders in magnacut, I've filled that hole so it's not that much of a draw from me anymore.

Fixed blades in 1075, 1080-85, 1095, SK85 have my interest right now.

Hinderers available and selling for less than MSRP in many cases. What a strange world it is.
I like how they are one of the only companies in the knife industry who hasn’t raised their prices since the start of 2020. When you look at what inflation did to some of the competitors, it’s pretty damn impressive.
Maybe direct they haven't, but EU dealers definitely cranked that pricing up by at least 20%. My first XM-18 cost 150 euro less than what they sell for now.

I thought that RHK made a wise choice with the auto release. Full-Ti @ $650. Those knives sat around for a day or two on some sites, which allowed me to buy the pair I wanted (NIB). I'm also seeing them go for retail-ish prices on the exchange. Sometimes a bit less.

What if RHK decided to start releasing some or all of the other models in full-Ti? I think it would give a lot of the flippers pause from the authorized dealers. Yes, retail prices would go up $200, but I'd buy a lot more Hinderers if they were NIB, had matched Ti scales, sat a bit longer on the shelf, and involved less searching for parts and had no secondary market nonsense.

In a few short weeks, RHK has completely undercut the secondary market. What were once rare offerings are now being flooded into the marketplace. I suspect it is either because RH is tired of the secondary scalping, or more likely, he sees the impending U.S. financial collapse and is cashing out, before most average folk no longer have anything left to spend on high end quality knives.
How are you certain of this?

Details? Facts? Sources?

There was another thread started a little while back with a similar merit.

I said this there and I'll say it here.....2024 will be either a better market or worse, depending on how you look at it and how flush you are.

Knives, Watches, etc, etc....won't matter.

There are a ton sitting on eBay right now like new for around retail price, some less. They used to go for 500+ on eBay because the sellers lose like 15% of the sale with the fees.
And they never used to sit around either. Not in the past several years, because they would only release a small batch every month or so it seemed like.

I have a few but I honestly don’t care if the value goes down a little. I’m more likely to buy another one than I am to sell one 😆

I guess I should have thrown an 'IMO' in there....as a collector, it has been a matter of simple observation. No facts, data, or expert witnesses involved:)
I’d say just the observation that there’s a bunch of slicers just sitting in stock on their site now left from yesterday’s drop is enough to back up the general sense of your comment!

I chalk it up to them increasing production for the holidays, perhaps they’ve invested in staff and equipment but I have no actual knowledge of that. The newsletters have Also been more reliable regarding drops (great for old farts like me with no social media). I also wonder if they’re trying to burn through s45vn stock before switching fully to magnacut, but that’s just pure speculation on my part! Secondary prices have been fairly reasonable for a year now at least for the PJ models so that’s nothing too new.

The Canadian dealer has like 30-40 3.5's and 3.0's available.

Market is soft... Simple as that.

I don't care why it's happening: will there be some Southpaw knives coming also?

In this case, greed is good!
