To any one considering this knife; The Gen 1 & Gen 2 Hinderer Xm-18 blades are hand ground (very collectible). The Gen 3 blades are machined now. The "only" handground Gen 3s are if you get 1 at a knife show in a lotto and you do have to buy the knife with the lotto win. I own 5 Hinderers and Ricks work is excellent to put it lightly. Hope this helps those trying to decide. Anthony
