Here is a generation I XM-18, 3 inch blade, S30V. I am the original owner and received the knife directly from Rick. The knife has never been used or carried and is new condition, still in box. $1100 no fee paypal, shipped in USA.

I'm sorry. You are assured that it is 1 generation? Thanks.

I think he asked the question because it looks like the G-10 side has a full Ti scale with a full G-10 handle slab, which would make it a Gen 2.

In all honesty, I am confused myself regarding the different generations. I know that this knife is one of the first 3 inch models to come out of Ricks shop and I know the steel is S30V. Perhaps it's a Gen I 3 inch, but has features of the GII? Does that make it a Gen I or II. I don't know but I will try to clarify. The G10 side does have full ti.

I am Pretty sure the only difference between the 2 Run's of 3" XM-18's is that the second Run Had the Duratech 20CV , with the Heavy Lettered Logo on the Blade. Other then That it is the same Knife. Best of Luck with Your sale. :) Also , I Believe Rick Put Full Liner's on the First Batch of the 3" XM-18's. It is Scary I know these Things :)

For what its worth. I had a Gen II 3" with flipper of my own but found I hated the flipper which is why I sold it to try to find the non flipper version. My Gen II model had a partial liner on the non lock side that was "nested" or inlayed in so the barrels and screws connected using it for backing support on the scale. I just had a Gen III here for a new carbon fiber scale install and it had a full liner and weighed a bit more than my own did. Also, I believe the scale on my model was slightly thicker G10 than the new one I just saw here. If you got an S30V model consider yourself lucky. I'd prefer that over the other steel personally. Nice folder. I have not seen a Gen I personally and don't really know the differences other than hearing that some were S30V.

Good luck with your sale.

Just to clarify, this 3 inch XM-18 is from the first run of 3 inch XM-18's which Rick made. The steel is S30V. The knife has full titanium liners. The first and second runs of the 3 inch XM-18 are identical save for Duratech steel being used in the second run. This is a custom 3 inch XM-18.

And a 3" XM-18 is a rare and special knife, no matter what. I don't believe you mentioned, but I wanted to add so that people don't overlook this, that the Gen 1 & Gen 2 XM-18's were hand ground by Rick. Most - not all, but most - of the Gen 3 XM-18's have CNC blades, finished and assembled by Rick, so he can get his excellent knives into the hands of customers faster, and as far as I know, he has not produced any Gen 3 XM-18's in 3".
