The location of where the stop pin on my XM-18 3 inch contacts the blade is extremely close to the cutting edge. It seems like that with repeating sharpening, this might create some sort of issue over time?

The stop pin on my 3.5, 18's is on the other side of the flipper, away from the blade edge. So, how can yours be a stop pin and have anything to do with the edge in the 1st place? Mine rest on flat unsharpened areas behind the flipper tab, the edge is on the other side you could sharpen it forever and not affect anything.

I think the OP is speaking of the early Generations stop pin. I can't offer any opinion on how the stop pin wears however over time, as I only own the current generation. I am sure someone will chime in.

On the Gen 4 they moved the stop pin to just above the flipper. On early models it was close to the carry clip like in this photo. I am not sure of issues that could arise from that but know Hinderer has a great warranty if anything did happen.
