Apology if these questions have been asked (but I had no luck in finding threads on the topic). A sterile nlade means no marking on it, correct? If so, on which hinderers is the sterile blade used and why? Everything being the same, are hinderers with a sterile blade more expensive oe less expensive? To me I like a blade with the logo and the steel type.

Gen 1,2, and 3 (most) had sterile blades if memory serves. Gen 4's are not. Custom blades are sterile as well.

I believe it would be Gen 2 for the 3"(Gen 1 were custom with Hinderer on blade) and Gen 3 and early 4 for the 3.5"(Gen1 & 2 being custom with Hinderer on blade)
Not very familiar with the XM-24, but maybe Gen 2(Gen 1 were custom)
After that they went to the horse head logo
If you look in the Hinderer forum archive there should be a history sticky
The Generations I am referring to are the true generations. Many people will quote the wrong generation especially for the 3"(which are different then the 3.5" generations and XM-24 are different from both those). Even the some dealers were quoting them wrong, which just added to the confusion.

That was a long reading, but thanks anyway. I found this paragraph from the linked thread:

"In 2012, Hinderer Knives began laser marking the knives. The custom knives receive the horse head logo and Rick’s signature whereas the productions receive the horse head logo and the “Made in the USA” and blade steel designation on the opposite side."
