I'm not a Hinderer collector so I don't know much about whoever made this, but it's easy to recognize that it's well made and super high quality. This scale has CZAR with a date and tiger on the inner side. I couldn't find any info on it but did look that hard. if you're a Hinderer collector, then you probably know what this is or might want to ask a Hinderer collector friend about these if you want to know about the origin of these.
This is not the same scale that BHQ sells, this is an aftermarket scale from a few years ago and I was told the scales with this mysterious makers mark on it, were the highest quality aftermarket Hinderer scales made.
I'm pretty sure this fits the XM-18 3.5" but not 100%. When I purchased it, I remember it being for an XM-18 but it was like 3 or 4 years ago. I've looked up pictures of the xm-18 and visually, it looks like it fits this scale, but there are a bunch of different models like XM-18 3" and 3.5" versions, xm-24, etc).
I'm leaning on the Hinderer collector who buys this to know for sure with the info I'm listing below. Here's what I know 100%:
It's exactly 4 3/4" long, 4.75" from the furthest point on each end. This should tell us which knife it fits. Please don't buy this if you're not sure which knife this fits. I don't have a XM-18 in person.
It weighs 56 grams or 1.96 oz
Stonewashed finish
The word CZAR with a picture of a Tiger and the date Sept 2014 - all engraved on the inner side.
Brand New and has never been mounted or test fit.
Zero scratches or marks of any type, mint.
I can provide more pictures or videos or measurements if necessary to ID it, just send me a PM.
$200 includes paypal G&S fees and shipping via USPS first class. No trades or international shipping.
I bought this while I was gathering parts for my first ever Hinderer, so when I found the knife I wanted, I could slap everything on and be cruizing the streets....as if I was building a civic hatchback with B-series in the 90's....but ended up not moving forward after reading about the weak detent issues, which I'm pretty sure was corrected a few years ago. At the time, after experiencing Shirogorov knives, I just wasn't interested in a knife with questionable feel. Action or any other type of feel you get from a nice folder/flipper.
