Hinderer warranty/support? Bad ball detent

So the ball detent on one of my xm-18's is not great - i believe in comparing it to my other 2 xm's its too tall and gets stuck in the hole when closed. While opening the blade (two handed only at this point), it scratches/scrapes across the blade causing massive tension and a very audible "screech" sound. I'd prefer they look at it before i take some more drastic measures with sanding and polishing it down (and risk ruining it).

I filled out the form on their site but haven't heard back in almost 2 weeks - Do they just expect me to blindly ship them the knife? Is there a better option for getting in contact with their repair department?

That's what it says to do, fill out the form and include it with the return. I read nothing about them contacting you to give the go ahead to return.

Weird, you'd think you'd get an email or something confirming if its something they would warranty and that its ready to ship. Oh well. K, i'll pull off my clip and filler tab and ship it out.

Hi boostdemon, how did it go? I just sent in my loved XM for some up and down play and am really excited to get it back. I hope it gets sorted out quickly!

Update for anyone curious. I sent the knife in and it was back in my mailbox in 7 DAYS! Yes, that included the time it took for the mailman to deliver it. WOW! All issues sorted, couldn't be happier. Hinderer really knocked it out of the park for me. I was really worried about getting back my favorite edc, and to say it is put a smile on my face is an understatement.

Awesome to hear! Thanks for updating everyone.

I wish I would have seen this thread earlier. I have been extremely impressed with Hinderer's customer service. I have always gotten emails back within 24 hours (and usually within 2 hours!). Glad your experience went well.

Too late now but the OP might have tried putting some real light oil in the detent track. Going through the same thing with a Medford right now and the little bit of oil made all the difference.

Some of these makers don't really get back to you with questions . Send them a knife and believe me it will be fixed .

Best way I've got in touch with Rob is on the dark forum. He replied to a pm within 24 hours .

Here's another little trick I found about detent holes. I had some lithium grease from auto zone . I lube some of my knives with it . If you put the lithium grease in the detent hole it will actually harden or dry a bit and can help your detent .
