I believe most makers warranty the knife regardless of current owner. And IMO that's right as long as the issue or defect is not associated with neglect or improper use from any owner.

The maker himself! thanks for your input! This deal didn't go through today, but I am keeping my eye out for one. Your knives look awesome, and I hear only good things, I have been saving quarters for about a year and I want to treat myself to one!

Demand is so high for the XM-18s especially that I doubt that Rick will reopen orders anytime in the next year or two at least, if ever again. Your best bet for getting an XM-18 is to either cruise the for sale forums here (they definitely do pop up from time to time), contact a dealer that gets them, or go to a show that Rick attends (he attends several every year) and enter his lottery.
