Hinderer XM-18 3.5" Wharncliffe in CPM20CV - SOLD
The knife was used extensively by it's first owner, and has some very faint scratches on the blade. Everything else is in top shape. The knife has had a regrind and bevel of 18DPS done by Josh at RazorEdgeKnives. Josh also anodized the Ti underneath the G10 to a really unique color. Looks bronze in the shade and almost a purple in the sunlight. Really sets the knife apart from others. The knife also has Copper Standoffs, and LBS from Monkey Edge. I also have the stock parts that were removed. As usual, the knife comes with everything it had from RHK....The Box, Card, Baggie, and tactical peanuts.
I have not used, nor carried this knife so it's condition is actually better than received. What?! Well let me explain!
This knife underwent the SlauterSPA treatment. Holy crap that sounds awesome, but what is it?
For this particular knife:
A) Complete disassembly and general cleaning
B) Sonic bath to dislodge stubborn junk, and degrease the knife
C) Everything (sans blade) received a heat treat of Frog Lube
D) Washers were replaced with brand new, genuine Hinderer replacements
E) Washers, pivot hole and detent ball were thinly coated in florinated PFPAE grease. (Teflon Grease)
F) Blade was given a fresh 18 DPS edge on my Wicked Edge, up to a .025 micron leather strop.
G) Blade was polished with German Simichrome polish to remove any slight surface patina and bring out the original shine
E) Blade was triple coated in Renaissance Wax to aid in cutting, and protect against corrosion.
I did not remove the patina from the LBS or the standoffs. Some folks happen to like that!
I'm much better with knives than I am with pictures, so hopefully these will tell the tale. I'm including a few pictures from the original owner, as it hasn't been used since. I'm only asking what I have into it: the through cleaning, new washers, fresh wicked edge, and polish are my gift. My favorite revolver also asked to make an appearance. He cannot be denied.
Thanks for looking. (Click the photos for more pics)
