Im picking up a xm-18 3" spanto this week and im not seeing any 3" for sale. Tons of 3.5 for sale but not the 3". Can you guys let me know a ballpark value in the 3" and are the harder to get? And would i be dumb to trade my 3" for a 3.5" straight trade?

Honestly they should be roughly the same. They are less common, but not so rare that it would justify a premium. You'll typically see used one's going for around the same prices 3.5's command.

Yea i agree prices have dropped a ton on these knives. Im just seeing alot of 3.5 for sale opposed to 3". I havent recieved my 3" yet so i guess ill have to make the decision to trade for a 3.5 or not. Do you guys have any opinions on the 3" or the 3.5? I seem to always have full sized knives so just not sure about a smaller knife.

The 3" fit my hands and the local law better, but YMMV.

I had two of each, but got rid both of my 3.5" ones. I still have both of the 3" ones. I prefer them, but they should sell for about the same price. So trade according to what suits your needs.

RHK does production runs, so availability goes in circles.

There will be a ton of 3inch XM's when they do a run.....

There was only one run of 3" Harpoon Tantos (new production grind) this year. There were no 3" production runs this year for Spantos or Slicers or Wharncliffes.

Well here we can have autos and as big of a blade as we want as well as constitutional carry. But all that said its still not comfortable to carry a brick in the pocket. Im excited to get my 3" so i can see how i like it. Seems like alot of people like the 3". May be a nice change from a el patron or my chaves 228. Thanks guys for all your input. This is a great forum.

Of the 3" & 3.5" the 3" is the one I have kept(spanto & slicer). It is very nice smaller knife. The 3.5" weighs a little too much for my tastes in EDC, so even though I like them they just sit at home-so I have sold them. I believe the 3.5" flips better than the 3", but I like the discontinued non flippers anyway.
Taste will vary

Hinderer is planning a short run (their words) of 3" XM-18's after the first of the year.
