  • Here is the official description of this piece:
  • The Eklipse incorporates the knowledge Rick has gleaned from years of sending XM-18 into the hands of hard users and the resulting creation is a knife that feels great in the hand. It is perfectly balanced, and has a the precision lock up you expect from Hinderer. Similar in size to the world famous and tested XM-18 3.5", but with a totally different feel!
The GEN 2 Eklipse - Rick wanted to make a couple subtle design tweaks and thus the GEN 2 Eklipse has a relocated stop pin that will allow wider variety of blade profiles to fit in the frame. The frame is also just a tad bit longer and therefore GEN 1 Eklipse scales will not fit on these GEN 2 knives. All of the other hardware (screws, handle nuts, pivot, clip, etc) are interchangeable between generations

· Framelock side features the patented Hinderer Lockbar Stabilizer (LBS) which prevents over torquing of the lockbar which can happen under stress (especially when using gloves).
· The Eklipse series of folders are completely modular. Just about every part (including scale, screws, standoffs, pivot, clip, etc.) can be changed by the user to suit their tastes.
· Pocket clip can be set for tip-up or tip-down carry
· Can be deployed using flipper tab or blade stud

The Blade: Hinderer's Digicam finish starts out as Working finish, and gets multi color, surface and texture, camo finish. When the Eklipse made its debut, it had a stylized tanto blade profile. Well Rick has taken it up a notch with the new Gen 2 Harpoon Tanto. Elongated tip almost hissatsu style. The Harpoon Tanto gives you all the stabby tanto goodness you love, but its extended tip bevel gives it a bit more utility use than a standard tanto.

The Frame: Titanium lock side with Hinderer's Digicam finish. XM textured G10 scale in layered green/black. Individually numbered (note: number may vary from pictured).
Attention any Nancy-pants, cork sniffers, or any aspiring interior designers: For some reason in the past few months we have had problems when selling any camo or patterned item that somebody will say “it doesn’t look like the pictures”. Besides the fact that it hurts our sensitive feelings because we try so hard to take good pictures, it also drives us absolutely nuts! So, read this disclaimer (ok maybe it is more of a rant) before you torture us thinking you need your knife to match your drapes or something:

· Camouflage patterns by their very nature are randomly applied and thus the pattern on your knife will differ in application from the picture.
· Camouflage also can look different under different lighting conditions and depending on the colors around it! What? I know it’s crazy being as how camouflage is supposed to help hide things. Look at MultiCam under bright sunlight in the desert and it tends to look way more tan and brown. Look at it in the shadows in a forest and all of a sudden it looks to have more green. Same pattern different context.
· Finally, the digital camouflage pattern applied to these knives has certain reflective portions and guess what? That’s right kids! Those reflective portions will look drastically different depending on the type and angle of the light source. If you shine a light directly at a mirror it is white. Shine it a bit off axis (with the same amount of light) and the mirror can look totally black.
