Hinderer Xm18 not a ZT flipper

Here is a video my dad made showing how he can open an XM-24 , 3 different ways. Flipping, thumb stud and by just flinging the blade out. I can flip and thumb stud it just as well, but he's the champ at flinging the blade out, like someone might want to do in cold weather, wearing gloves. I asked him to make it because, a member here said it was impossible to design a knife that you could open all 3 ways. Note lack of movement of his hand when he flips the heavy blade straight up.

Oh man, that lock stick sound was killing me. Can not stand lock stick of any kind. Others don’t care. Just a peeve of mine. That is a beautiful knife though. Also, being able to shake a blade out that easily is a deal killer for me as well. Yes, I am that picky. That is pretty much why my knife collection has dropped from dozens and dozens to less than 10 now.

As for Hinderer flipping well, I have only had a few in hand and none were that phenomenal but they get the job done just fine. They don’t make fidget toys after all. I think some flippers are no more than high end fidget spinners with a blade. Flippers at one time were the shanizzle, but now it’s not all that imo. Just want smooth, no lock stick, no blade play, centered, and sharp as sh*t.

That knife has no lock stick. It was because my dad wasn't clearing the lock all the way before he pushed the lock bar over. You can easily push the lock over and leave the blade open before you begin to close it and it won't make any click.

Oh, it's very possible to flip a knife several different ways when the detent is as weak as most Hinderers. :) I have two Gen 4s, both weak. That said, I believe that "feature" is intentional to allow this. So, once you become accustomed to this, you learn to take advantage of it. They're still great knives, and if they ever come out with a spantoon non-flipper, I'll own three. :)
