My Hinterland heavy field/combat model with a 6" blade, ground from Crucible's Cru-Forge V carbon steel. Thickness at the spine is @ .240", tang is tapered to @ .160" with "tipless" notched glass breaker pommel.
This steel offers better wear resistance than O-1 or most other carbon steels, I am very impressed with how it holds an edge. It also rusts easily, making it a good candidate for forced patinas, parkerizing, ceramic coatings, etc.
I hand sanded this one to 320 grit and made the scales removeable with 8-32 torx head screws with 1/4" threaded inserts that go through the tang and slightly into the scale on both sides.
Perfect for the Coaters, the Parkerizers, the Bluers, the Patina-ers (Patinators?), the Scotch-Briters, the Tumblers, the Stick-it-in-a-Potato-ers, or guys who just need a hard use knife and don't mind oiling it

Removeable black/green 2x2 G10 scales
