This Knife is not for sale except by special order but I wanted to share this picture with you as it is the largest Khukuri ever to come out of the HI shop. This Knife is 34 inch overall and weights 102 oz. It was special ordered by martial arts instructor.

Made by Vim Bhadur Kami

Dave's knife is more of a two hander in my book. Might as well get a membership to LA Fitness and hit the rowing machine to chop with that beast. I think NKH made a blade like that once apon a time. 34 inches should (in theory) get any job done!

I wonder what this mystery martial arts instructor intends to DO with said khuk? Unless the guy is built like Atlas himself... then again, many such disciplines would advocate training with oversized blades to develop muscle and speed when later using a more conservatively sized specimen.

Yeah, yeah, yeah...it's that whole "substitute" thing.

Oops...sorry Dave.

;) <ducking>

i thought the biggest was the special order janawar katne? the one that yangdu is holding in one of the HI website pics :)

Oops -- my mistake
Yes, oops, it was my mistake and I deeply apologize to Dave who does own the biggest HI Khukuri of 40'' which he became the proud owner of over a year ago. Thank so much to all keeping facts straight.

Would be interesting to see how this martial arts instructor wields such a huge blade. I'd think it would be too heavy to use for fighting.
But for chopping... well, another story...

I'd love to see a dvd of ANYBODY using that huge blade. What a picture that would be.

102oz is pretty dang heavy (6.375lbs). I have a 35" ang khola that I special ordered from bill a while back that only weighs in at 84.2oz. The beast presented here manages to pack 18 extra ounces in an inch less space.

When considering "big", theres length, weight, and thickness. I'm still drooling over a 3/4" thick 18" ang khola, but I'll have to build one myself because I wouldn't want to make anyone suffer so much for my petty desires :). dave describes his ganga as coming in at "about 7 pounds", wich is 112oz at exactly 7. If you take off 6oz to be conservative, it only gains 8oz on the khukuri presented here.

This one is craaazy heavy  . I'm kind of curious as to how thick it is

edit - I dont know what I'm talking about, mine is 30".... SO.... ignore most of what is stated above....
