HI's Biggest Khukuri Ever

Giant khuks as the next celebrity fitness craze? After you're tired with Pilates, Kettlebells, and bootcamp..... :D

The one I've got is right around 7 lbs. and 40" in length; the entire rig tops out at over ten lbs. I have some pics around here somewhere comparing the chakmak and karda to a 17" khukuri -- they are about the same size.

Swinging it is an experience, as you might imagine. I'd think that this one would be much the same, except that its handle might be a bit longer and may better accomodate a second hand. (You do not swing these with only one hand. Hold, maybe, but not swing.)

Polishing it must have been a task.

These actually can be used for some work; it did a great job of clearing blackberry bushes for example, as any creepers that didn't cut cleanly snagged on the blade and its momentum would uproot the entire plant. I consider them to be the most dangerous to use, though; one can check a swing if they realize immediately that it's going bad, but one does not check a swing with one of these. It keeps going until it's ready to stop, not the user.

Wowsers!! Both Khukuri's posted are HUGE!!!!

When I special ordered Godzilla (25" long and 5lbs) years ago it was probably the biggest ever done. Now you guys are just crazy! :p Even a 5lbs blade won't stop till it wants to. you just point it in the dirrection and let it fly! Making sure all body parts are out of the way. Godzilla could tackle 4" branches in a single swipe. Wonder how these big ones do??? Anyone know?

If Richard Simmons could lift and chop with one of those monster khuks throughout one of his workout videos, (or even for a few minutes!) I and David Letterman would have a new, fear-based respect for him.

Now that's a big khukuri! I think the one I had made a few years ago comes close. Need to take a tape measure to it when I get a moment.

Got it out of my khukuri storage box and measured it - not quite a 40 incher, but 30 inches is no slouch.

Here are some pix for you to enjoy...

Horse drawn chariots!!!

That's a pretty one. And a pretty big one.

Dave, thank you. You, me, and the others are indeed privileged to own some excellent HI khukuris.

To the most excellent kamis of BirGhorka without whom these would not be possible, thank you for your inspired work!

Whoah! A 30" YCS?! If it weren't so purdy, I'd want to see what I can only imagine is an impressive chopping power...
