On understanding, reality can be in front of your nose and your preconceptions prevent you from looking at it, as you already know all about it.

Too much cultural wisdom and truth is given lip service, then filed away to never be seen again. When I see it restated a different way, from a different culture, then it makes sense. When I hear Jesus, Jesus, Jesus, from the pulpit, I tune it out. When I read HHDL's commentary on the teachings of Jesus, When I read the Oral Torah, then the ideas sneak in under the wall against Bull---t I've constructed.

For this reason, that the answers come if you seek them, but often not in the places you look originally. If they insist on inserting their noses where unwelcome, I then insist that both sides get to play by the same set of rules. That usually ends it.

Senator, welcome to the forum.

I'll have to let Rusty answer for himself but there are many religious groups besides Christians who feel theirs is the only way.

However, if you are personally offended let me know and I'll delete the entire thread. We do not intend to offend anybody in this forum.

Hiya Uncle Bill. Certainly no need to delete the thread. If I'm offended by statements like Rusty's, I'll get over it. I'm a big ole' boy. I know that there are other religions who claim "the one true way." Mine is one of them. I'd just like to see a little even playing ground - the chance to be an equal opportunity offender so-to-speak.

This one of those times that somehow I happened to stop and think when I realized that I had one foot in my mouth...and asked the question did I really need to insert the other?

Reminds me of the story about Al Smith, the Governor of New York State some decades back. While inspecting Sing Sing Prison for the first time, he was asked by the Warden to say a few uplifting words to the inmates. He agreed.

The Governor started off by saying: "My fellow citizens." Then he realized that prisoners had forfeited their citizenship.

He tried again: "My fellow convicts," but that came out all wrong.

He finally stammered: "Well anyway, I'm glad to see so many of you here."

I figured I'd quit while I was only one down. I had been unclear in my post, allowing it to be misunderstood. I deleted the part offensive to Senator. And apologised for the lack of clarity. Senator and I maintain out opinions, but don't want to be a distractive argument to this forum. He did invite me over to his place to "discuss" this further (just for the 'hell' of it).

There is room for us all in the world and in this forum if we will but allow it. Men of good will can always manage to get along if they exert the effort. It is not always easy and there must be some give and take on the part of all but it is certainly possible.

It has been my aim in this forum to disallow personal attack, badmouthing of others and any product save Himalayan Imports, and foul language as we have children who visit here.
Anything else is up for discussion.

Since the khukuris we make and sell are steeped in Eastern religion and culture it is difficult to discuss them at length and omit the religion and culture. To be fair, that opens the door for any religion as a topic.
As you all have seen me say: What has this to do with khukuris? Everything.

There are not two of us who are exactly alike. We are all different and this difference will extend to belief systems. Let us accord one another the right to believe as we see fit and try our best not to offend one another.

The kamis have sent us their blessings for whatever they might be worth. I now send you my own -- again, for whatever they might be worth.

Live in peace. It is much better than any other alternative.
