I was thinking of getting another sheep scaring folder for my collection.Yup, I want another "tactical" folder. These two came to mind because they are pretty affordable and I have heard good things about them. Which is the higher quality knife and what are your experiences with them. Battle of the combat folders..

vs

Hissatsu is newer, and probably better engineered when it comes to hardware, locks, and so on. Tad better steel - aus8 vs 425mod.
BUT.
Gerber is larger, and you can sharpen top edge (if daggers are legal in your jurisdiction).
I would take gerber - it is just more sexy.

In my opinion, neither is a very good quality knife. Probably on a par with the Smith & Wesson Chinese folders.

I've heard complaints about the Hissatsu folder breaking or having lock failure. I briefly owned the fixed blade version and whoever tried sharpening it at the factory must've had some sort of palsy -- grind was all over the place and it was so dull it wouldn't cut paper. Had a knifemaker friend regrind the edge to make it usable.

If you want "scary" get a Microtech OTF.

The hissatsu is the better one of the two, but I carry the Benchmade Bedlam 860 for what does two knives where designed for.

Again the hissatsu is a very good offensive (its basically made to stab someone to death) knife for the price.

The bedlam is around 200$ and the Micro tech is probably even more..I wanted to get one of these two because I felt like grabbing a more affordable option to play around with.

Then get the hissatsu, in my opinion its the more durable of the two. If you what your looking for is something to play around whit than, you might want to be a bit more specific on what you are going to use it for.

Stabbing things. :D

But between those...

If I was absolutely forced to choose, the CRKT. More reputable than Gerber. I also like their auto-lawks feature.

But I really strongly urge you to look at other options. I know you are a cold steel fan, they got plenty of similarly priced items that are much more dependable.

Also, the CRKT M21-14SF and the M16-14SF are both pretty mean looking folders. Plus you can wave it out of your pocket.

Stay away from the G10 versions though, go for the aluminum ones.

I say this for two reasons.. 1) I don't like veff serrations and 2) the aluminum ones are aus 8 which is better than the 8Cr14MoV on the G10 models that never get sharp for me.

I actually have the M16-14SF in aus 8 and it's great. I thought that hissatsu folder would be comparable because it has the same steel,is even thicker and has the same auto-lawks. I suppose I could just wait for the coldsteel counterpoint 1.

Yeah it won't be long, according to knifecenter.com it will be sometime in april. I have heard of problems with the hissatsu.. namely that the tip is not strong enough, and the thumb disk is really hard to get to

Not the biggest fan of CS. However if ya do want stabby.. Go with your gut the 8 inch Ti Lite.
