This is a hand forged spike tomahawk. Its design and method of costruction are inspired by actual historical Tomahawks that we have came up with thru research. Notable examples include a spike hawk in the New York state museum, one from the Fort Ticonderoga museum and another from the Missouri historical society that came from an Indian mound. Forge welded from three seperate pieces. Two sides and a bit. The sides form the body (poll, eye and spike). Since we wanted to spike hardened and tough we used 1065 for the body. The cutting bit is a piece of W-1 tool steel. Very sharp. Good clean welds. The head is 9" long overall and the cutting edge is 2 3/4" wide. Overall weight of the hawk is 1 pound 4 ounces. Pretty fast and light. The head has been etched to a nice aged patina and stamped with our touch mark.
The haft is a very nice piece of curly maple, 19" long. It has really nice chantoyance and depth. Stained with Aqua Fortis and finished with boiled linseed oil.
We are asking$200 (NOW $170) plus $10 shipping. Shipping will be priority wit conformation. We accept paypal and money orders. email address is phllpwest@bellsouth.net
