History of the Coke Bottle pattern?

Not much help other than a photo of my only sample, a 1970 era Case 6225 1/2 red bone, small coke bottle:

I think this handle color could even come close to a full bottle of Coca-Cola. :)

Here's a turn of the century Edwards swell centre hunter. BRL says it was a house brand name for a Montreal hardware wholesaler. I have a catalog from 1901 from the company showing the Edwards mark.

Regards

Robin

Far as I know it was Maher and Grosh that first made the Custer reference to the coke bottle hunter. Their 1886 catalog though states an "old cavalry officer with years of service on the plains" designed the knife for them. Pure marketing or true fact, I don't know.

Just received a reprint of the 1908 Maher and Grosh catalog from Cornell Publications. The company used the "General Custer's favorite hunting knife" reference in that period for sure.

That pattern sure is pleasing to the eye. I've really been wanting to add one to my growing collection for sure.
GEC makes a couple of them but they're hard to get new because they're small batch and always sell out no matter what pattern it is.But people do sell them on EBay and Etsy. They ain't cheap but GEC makes the best classical folders out there besides custom ones. Their quality is amazing

You do know this thread is from almost 10 years ago? Right?
