Hitachi Steel On-line Petition for Aldo

Down to one piece of Blue left. Would buy Blue, White or any of the others mentioned if Aldo could get them.

Blue #2 is kinda sorta like O1, but with a little bit more carbon, no vanadium and about 3 times as much tungsten at 1.5%. The 115W8/1.2442 German steel you have seen mentioned has even more tungsten, typically around 1.8-2% I recall reading somewhere that vanadium and tungsten provide similar benefits when used as alloying elements in steel and that the reason we see steels with tungsten coming from say Europe and ones with vanadium coming from the Us is, in part an issue of local avalaibilty and price. Remebrt that the percentages of allying elements in a steel are listed by weight, so when you have 1% tungsten and 1% vanadium, the "amount" of vanadium by volume will, in theory, be higher.
Can someone explain the benefits or strong characteristics this steel has please? Is it comparable to any domestically available steel? I'm interested in using some but would like to learn more about both of them.
