HMG: Her Majesty's errr... Home Made Grinder.

"New Jersey": for my homieZ :) or my home state. Also, for
1/2" steel plate used as foundation of the whole thing.

The thing is rather obvious and real EZ to make.
I used my HF MIG quite liberally and it speeds up construction
big time

Looks functional enough. Congratulations.

I see you have pics of the VFD. Does this mean the troubles you were having are all straightened out?

#1 Driving and tracking pulleys, extension arm with 5-in-1 flat platen :)
I borrowed the idea for platen from "KMG Article". Due to the desing
where the tools are attached via "clamp" design, it rotates to offer
flat platen: vertical, at an angle, slack belt, 2" , 3" contact rollers

#2 same with support table. Table rotates outta way (can see it in
different pic)

You can also see how the tool-arms clamp in - via SHCS
The clamping hole is 1/2", slit on me HF Bandsaw. 1/4 turn
is all you need to release the tool arm

#3 - you can see tension spring. I went through few different
one looking for one that works.

#4 - you see platen up-close with support outta way

#5 - 3" contact exposed

#7 - platen at an angle. A really useful position, I find it very comfortable

#8 - 2" contact exposed

#9 - 5" contact installed, you can also see handle (on the bottom) that attaches support tables

#10 - 11" contact wheel (the DuctTape model).

#11 - disk grinder attachement. I used a 1/2" multisection belt
to drive it

#13 - 9" sanding disk installed

#14 - tracking pulley design. Worth a 1000 words :)

#15 -16 - my KBAC controller. A controversial item. You can see I added
a power switch and reverse switch, both with rubber "boots"

KBAC broke my heart ! I am still having problems with it.
I am stuck with it, don't want to write off $300+ I spent on it.

Looks great! One question for you. Where did you get those nice ball-end screw handles? I need a few of those for my HBKMG.

Thanks,

-d

Try the MSC catalogue. If you don't get it, you probably should.

Ball handles are from McMaster. They look menacing enough, but
the 3/8x16 studs are cr@p. Too soft.

The only wheel from SunRay is the 3" OD contact. I am waiting for
a few more to come in (2", 8" and 4"). The 5" is $4 item from Surplus
Center. I turned it on a lathe. The poly turns beatifully. Of course,
I had to bore out for 2 x 1/2 ID BBs. If anyone's interested in those,
search of one of my previous posts.

the upgrades to my 9x20 kept me BZ all day long. Finished tumbler
reverse.
